Install freezing on first boot with newer hardware.

Basically no matter how I perform the install it won't go past the loading screen (Loading Windows Logo) on it's first boot.

lxqjLPn

I'm thinking it has something to do with my newer hardware as I'm using a Crosshair VIII and an R5 3600.

PLEASE DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE USB PROBLEMS, THIS IS A DIFFERENT ISSUE
Off of ^that^ I've been able to use USB perfectly fine during the install after slipstreaming the drivers into the ISO with ntLite. If it *were* to be a USB issue I wouldn't be able to use my mouse in the install screen. I have no PS/2 ports so I have to slipstream.

Something curious is when I choose to boot into safe mode it doesn't boot either but it does tell me where it freezes at. It stops at "classphp.sys". So I'm thinking whatever is after that process is causing problems.

I've tried the following things:
- Different ISO's
- Different slipstreaming programs and packages to include
- Installing as either Legacy or UEFI (legacy actually has less problems)
- Different disk format types. Like GPT or MBR.
- Different drive types. M.2, SATA SSD, and HDD.
- Using freshly formatted drives
- Installing via different USB port types
- Unplugging literally every USB device on my system while it's installing and loading

I've also read that entering System Recovery might allow me to repair the disk which might fix it. But being as it's new hardware F8 is now reserved for disk selection, not for entering System Recovery anymore. I've tried pressing F8 through every single step of the boot process and it always either does nothing or goes to disc select.

Any help would be greatly appreciated since I need Windows 7 to submit many Overclocking scores to HWBot with AMD CPU's!

Bump; please help. I've been dealing with this for the past month and it's infuriating me. Is there a reason why no one is wanting to reply? Is it really that difficult of a problem where no one knows how to fix it?

For AMD Ryzen cpu:
Update your Win 7 installation media

But being as it's new hardware F8 is now reserved for disk selection, not for entering System Recovery anymore.

If you display the windows boot menu, you will be able to tap F8 at the correct time. That is after bios has handed control to windows bootmgr. When you see the windows boot menu entry, that is when to tap F8.

To get winre to work, You might want to integrate the sha2 update and the mainboard drivers into winre.wim as well as install.wim.

Thank you very much for your reply.

Welp, I tried the whole process over again with your tool (which sorry I didn't try before, thought it was a slipstream tool I had already tried called Windows 7 Image Updater).

No such luck. Still freezes at the loading logo.

I made sure to include the simplix update pack and I put the AMD drivers in the "DRIVERS\installx64" folder.

If you display the windows boot menu, you will be able to tap F8 at the correct time. That is after bios has handed control to windows bootmgr. When you see the windows boot menu entry, that is when to tap F8.

Pressing F8 at the bootmgr just opens up the opportunity to boot into safe mode and related settings. Not for recovery mode to use cmd.

To get winre to work, You might want to integrate the sha2 update and the mainboard drivers into winre.wim as well as install.wim.

I was able to use sha2 to open a cmd window but I wasn't able to use it to repair the disk as it's running that cmd off of the root disk (the install USB) instead of the disk I installed the using OS to.

Gigabyte and MSI 5xxx mobo are recommended for win7. Not asrock.

It's a Crosshair VIII which is Asus.

You must check BIOS settings
Did you set secure / safe boot and fast boot to disabled in BIOS?
Did you set CSM to enabled?

Appreciate you're response and suggestions as well Megahertz.

Did you set secure / safe boot and fast boot to disabled in BIOS?

Secure and fast boot are both disabled.

Did you set CSM to enabled?

CSM and Legacy boot functions are in tandem which makes it required to enable it from the beginning. Otherwise I can't install 7 at all.

Can you rephrase that?

sha2 is the window that pops up right before the install that shows the many extra options, right? Including the ability to use cmd?

So I was thinking I might able to use that to try and repair the disk. But it wouldn't let me repair any other disk than the USB drive the install is currently on. I don't know if there's a way to direct that cmd window to repair the drive the windows install is on instead of the USB, which is what I think might fix things. Although that's just a theory off of some obscure suggestion.

Unless you've got a different solution in mind? Repairing the drive honestly doesn't make sense to me as a solution to this but I'm at wit's end here.

No.

2019 SHA-2 Code Signing Support requirement for Windows and WSUS

Win7 needs the sha2 updates integrated for a variety of things, including being able to use the amd mainboard drivers and amd gpu drivers.

Most people Integrate sha2 update into the win7 installation media to be able to use the amd drivers.

If the win7 image has already been applied to a partition, integrate the sha2 update using dism++

If you used the 7update tool correctly, that should already have been done.

If you have set up the bios correctly as well, then I don't know what you are doing wrong.

Did you integrate the amd mainboard drivers?

Ohhh I see. That makes sense. I hadn't ever seen that extra UI in an install before so I assumed that's what it is and why it was optional. Well, either way I used the version on your post with sha2 included (v60).

If you have set up the bios correctly as well, then I don't know what you are doing wrong.

I believe so. I've toyed with almost every setting I can think of including removing all my OC's and setting it back to stock. Forgot to mention but it's also on the latest version. I had this problem before updating the BIOS as well (so a second-to-last version as the latest was still in beta when I first had this issue)

Did you integrate the amd mainboard drivers?

I don't know if those are the same drivers that are on the root thread you linked me to (I think they are), but I did place those in the Drivers folder of the 7updater program. And I believe it did apply them as I saw it doing so while the program was running.

Would you happen to know what loads after classphp.sys in the boot sequence? I'm wondering if I knew that if it would provide any clues.
