rename OS partition

to rename a partition that contains an OS in XP you would goto start up and recovery there you could change the name of the OS but that option seems to have moved,
where has it moved to?

you used to be able to just change the boot.ini in xp is that option no longer available in 7?

Boot.ini is a relic for primitive boot managers. Windows Vista and 7 use a more sophisticated boot manager.

I realize that we don't share the same viewpoint on this, but "sophisticated boot manager" seems like an oxymoron to me. Maybe I'm just not sophistiscated enough to appreciate it.

Just type disk amanegment in search>pproperties>change

the other is just to right click the drive letter and properites

Not sure Disk Mgmt will also change it in the Boot Menu, if that's what OP wants.
