How to completely uninstall the ethernet driver

I am having frequent network connection drop, old & well reported problem with no real cure so I want to update the new Marvell Yukon driver but when I uninstall the present driver windows roll back to the older version, I even tried uninstalling the Ethernet card but on next reboot the windows automatically installs the old driver.

Is there a way that I completely get rid of all the past version drivers installed for this & only the new version should remain there.

Have you attempted to install the new driver over the old one? Or just use Device Manager to browse for the new driver and install it once you find it. It may help to disconnect from the internet first.

I tried just updating the driver over the older version but that did not solve this connection drop problem. Let me try your method.

One thing you can try is to uninstall the driver through Device Manager and before rebooting go to,

C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository

and locate the folder that contains the Marvell driver/install information and delete it (will be a folder for each version of the driver that has been installed). That should stop Windows from re-installing the driver upon restart. The fun part is finding the right folder, some are easy and some take a bit of digging (searching/checking INF files).

Had to do the same thing with a wonky sound driver, and the only way to get a clean driver install was to delete those folders (but only after uninstalling through DM first).

For sound drivers "especially Creative" that is fairly typical, but for a NIC driver that is a little strange. Good advice I'm sure, hopefully he can find the old Marvell driver.

Tried your method & it finally got updated, restarted & seems that the new driver is working fine & running last 24 hrs without any hangup issues.

Glad you got it working ranjan, disconnecting the eithernet cable usually works for me also when I'm in that situation.

Hopefully someone see's this and marks it as solved.
