It runs the genuine check 24h after its installation I believe.

I'm perfectly satisfied with the current configuration of the software in my laptop and require no further support to keep it running, even if it means regular maintenance the rest of us uneducated idiots are all too familiar with, usually involving skills they don't teach people in college. I can build a system that can start windows in less than 20 seconds for less than $1000.

It wouldn't show up in IE because it can query the Windows Update 'WUWebControl' and 'MUWebControl' directly and their hard-coded into Internet Explorer not to show up as an addon.

I despise phone home stuff. I anticipate problems when I finally install WAC. I had problems activating my legitimate copy of Ultimate the first time. I had to use the phone method and speak with a live person.

Hi,

so I tried several times yesterday to check for new updates to see if WAT pops up but it never did. I'm in Europe so I was thinking "well maybe tomorrow, different time zones and all". So this morning I checked again and I can see 1 important update but when I click to see its details - I suspect it's the WAT one - I see this:

OK to my above post, it turns out, after I rebooted (not applying the update) and checked again, this was just a definitions update for Win Defender.

Still no KB971033 for me, this is really weird.

Nor me, but I have run the online tool a couple of times in the last week so have W.A.T related info on my system, and wonder if that's why some aren't getting it, because they already have it?

It shows in my Firefox plugins, and my services list, so I won't require the update I don't think.
