Call of duty 4 (COD4) on windows seven

Hello.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit (7600 build) and I can't acess Call of Duty 4. Does anyone have simple instructions on how to (there are so many posts it's a bit confusing)?

Also do I have to re-install Windows 7? Is there any other way of not having to do a complete re-install?

Thank You

i have the same OS as you,
what are your specs? does it meet the minimal requirements?

Is my new machine too much for Call of Duty4?

I just put together a new machine. Installed Windows 7 Pro 64bit. I have more than enough of the specs for the game. But it crashes when playing for more than ten minutes on either single player or multiplayer. I have reduced the screen resolution. I have disabled the built-in Realtek audio. I have disabled my second ethernet port. I have disabled closed all background applications. I have given the game only one of the six processors i have. I have run in compatibility mode. I have run as administrator. I have read the forums, i have reinstalled my OS at least six times just because of this game. I have also monitored the fan and CPU temp. Temp is not more than 53 and the fan doesnt spike when playing the game. This game worked on Windows XP service pack 3. But why in the world would i have to "dumb down" a machine that works with the other programs i have (Adobe CS4, Office XP, etc.) just to play a game? I love the Call of Duty games but hate i cant make my very advanced machine work on it.

I have also BlackOPs but dont want to install the newer game if i cant get the older game to run. Any other suggestions from the many smart minds here?

One thing that I know you have to do with the realtek is make sure it is set to "stereo" I was having similar problems with a very sinilar system, once I did this I have had very few rpoblems. Good luck with your system and have fun playing COD4 I enjoy it very much since working out the bugs that plagued me for some time.

This is the one and only solution by far for the win 7 users facing the problems caused by OS...install " java sun virtual box" on ur windows 7 , it's a simulator on which you can install windows xp and use the "simulated" windows xp on seven, it works wonders on windows 7 and won't get much space u can install any programs on windows xp ( still working on ur win 7) and u can close the window of ur simulated xp any time you want like the other usual programs on ur win 7.

Hey people,

This has worked for me, but remember to start off with a clean install in case you have made other attempts to *fix* this.

1. Install CoD4 with PB that comes with it.

2. Install all the patches to bring it up to the current version (1.7)

3. Do a PB manual update.

4. Run Cod4 to make sure all services start.

5. Set the following files to Vista compatibility mode:

  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PnkBstrA.exe
  • C:\Windows\SysWOW64\PnkBstrB.exe
6. Play the game.

This has been verified on 64b only, builds: 7100 & 7600 (3 Machines, 2x 7100 and 1 7600) I have been able to play it on build 7100 32b but the executable's are in a different location and I haven't documented them.

I have logged about 3.5 days of constant play with this working, and I've been playing on PB enabled servers.

Please let me know if this works for you :)

Glad this still works it was starting to bug me :)

I couldn't sprint or jump :p

I have all the CoD MW install on my Win 7 64bit and I don't have an issue. If anything, the MW3 shows a lack of video quality but in reality I never like to touch video in any of the game, I usually leave it to the game to opt for the best option except my native res.
