Windows crashes randomly at any time. I've upgraded Realtek audio driver as suggested in other threads, still it crashes any time, some times just after boot. I've also changed my power settings to 'high performance', so 'sleeping' shouldn't be a problem either.

Error message: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Though I've changed my settings to generate minidump file, I don't see any in %SystemRoot% folder. So I'm posting my event details.

Someone, please help me on this. My laptop is not workable since last 3 days. I'm repenting my decision to install Windows 7 Ultimate on Lenovo Y410 (7757-8CQ model). Lenovo website doesn't provide updated Windows 7 drivers.

Thanks and regards.

Kernel power error (ID 41) only tells that a hard reset has occurred, not what caused it. Check the events just before that to find out information about what caused crash.

Most often it is driver related.

Did you check the events before Kernel 41?

@Kari : as you suggested earlier I checked events before Kernel 41, but nothing looked suspicious. I've cleared all the logs . I'll post new data here after next crash.

Thank you all for your help. It's appreciated.

It seems just before crash (3rd row), some error related to sptd, event 4 occurred. sptd seem to be related to Daemon Tools, which I cleanly uninstalled 3 days ago with Revo Uninstaller. No idea why it is causing problem now?

This post suggests to remove a particular windows update to solve the problem. But this update doesn't exist on my laptop.

Do you have Daemon Tools installed? Driver called sptd.sys (Scsi Pass Through Direct) comes with some third party virtual CDapps, most common is Daemon.

However, the 8 minutes time difference between sptd and hard reset tells it most probably was not the cause.

Currently I don't have it. I uninstalled it 3-4 days ago. I've updated STPD driver for windows 7 anyways.

However, the 8 minutes time difference between sptd and hard reset tells it most probably was not the cause.

That's what I thought initially. But time difference is 8 seconds not 8 minutes.

My bad! I'm sorry.

So it looks like it's the sptd.sys that caused the crash. Other members can have other opinions but to me it's quite clear: sptd crashes and 8 seconds later the whole system, there's nothing to see between these two events.

SPTD does cause a lot of blue screens. I would recommend removing it completely until this issue is resolved.

Since I updated sptd.sys from here, my machine is a lot stable. In fact no crash since then :) . I'll put my updates here if it crashes again. Thank you all for your help.

ok, even uninstalling SPTD didn't work. Please see this log:

Strange thing is that I don't see any suspicious event around crash time (blue line)? No minidump was created. Anyone got idea?
