yes zigzag3143, I have searched for event ID 41 (I'm getting the reboot-one) but I haven't found the solution. so far I've tried several things mentioned here and on other forums without any luck. I've posted about these experiments in this thread as well.

Are you getting the event ID 41 source 63 on boot, or when playing games, etc?

I recommend removing Daemon Tools completely.

It has been removed completely without any trace.

Here is what the event ID means
. Event ID 41 appears on systems with multiple CPUs if the CPUs have different stepping levels. The text in the event log will be: "The CPUs in this multiprocessor system are not all the same revision level. To use all processors, the operating system restricts itself to the features of the least capable processor in the system. Should problems occur with this system, contact the CPU manufacturer to see if this mix of processors is supported."

The cure is a BIOS upgrade done with extreme care. Make sure you need to first. Is this cuasing you enough grief to warrent flashing?

Ken, that is event ID 41 Application Popup Error. However, ID 41 Kernel Power Error is like stated in the post I linked in my previous post (http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lockup-debug-how/72883-what-kernel-power-error-id-41-a.html).

It tells nothing else than that the computer crashed. It does not tell why.

I'm not sure about this. Both the processors were working fine in Windows XP SP3. Besides I don't see any noticeable delay in running cpu-intensive programs.

I definitely don't want to flash BIOS. I'd rather re-install XP.

More than likely a power state change on something like USB, HD, etc. Means its just taking to long to respond.

Have you put in your system specs? Or could you just t ell us what you have that would fall into that category.

I've also changed my power settings to 'high performance', so 'sleeping' shouldn't be a problem. I'm only using system HD and USB mouse/keyboard.

Have you put in your system specs?
yes

You might see something in event viewer. Type eventvwr in search. Go tot he windows log>application tab.

Look for anything (critical errors) that mentions the problem

Zip/RAR your dump files and post them here. They should be located in C:\Windows\Minidump . If there aren't any dumps, you need to enable dumping by going to Control Panel -> System -> Advanced System Settings -> Startup and Recovery Settings. Set Write debug information to "Small Memory Dump (256kb)". If you can recreate the problem, post the dumps that are created here.
