SO close - Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver

Finally got it to work!!!!! Only 3 days later! haha

sp35558.exe was the correct driver, which I had been trying to use over and over but would never work! kept coming up with a failure to work or whatever dumb error message but finally read a forum about forcing the driver.... Instead of opening the driver from the folder i downloaded it in you have to open up device manager > right click on the audio card and select update driver software > browse my computer for driver software > (this is the part that is soooo stupid in my mind...) but you can't click on the top part that says "search for driver software in this location:" instead you must click underneath it where it gives you the option "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" (how are those two any different is completely beyond me!) but as soon as you click on have disk and pick your driver it worked!!!!!!

I really hope this helps someone, I spent way too long figuring out something so silly as a driver for sound!!!!!

Thanks for the help!

HP dv1326ea sound issues

Hi there.

My HP laptop seems also to be using Conexant AC-Link sounddriver. I cannot get the sound to work under Win7 Ultimate 32bit. This is what my hardware ID shows:

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3080103C&REV_03
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&SUBSYS_3080103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_266E&CC_0401

Any help is much appreciated :)

baarod, I'm hoping you can help...

I followed your instructions on page 3 getting the hardware IDs, doing a bit of research and getting the drivers to work for my modem and card readers but I cannot get the sound to work, no matter what driver I try.

I have a Compaq Presario R4000 and just installed a fresh copy of Windows 7, 32 bit (had Windows XP and the sound was working).

I tried the Vista 32 bit driver you suggested:

IE ONLY: Microsoft Update Catalog

Sorry -- that's 32-bit only...

I'm looking for 64-bit now.

Try this one: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...tem=ob-51288-1

with no luck.

These are the Hardware IDs for my non-working Conexant AC-Link Audio:

PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3085103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&SUBSYS_3085103C
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_040100
PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_4370&CC_0401

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I hope someone can help with this. I tried using the instructions for the Windows Update Catalog. There were two results for Vista/7. One was a thirty driver package, none of which seemed to work. The second was for the correct processor (x86) but failed to install, even in XP SP2 compatibility mode.

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Ignore the HP drivers
Get the Toshiba p100-429 vista driver for this conexant/realtek sound chip
http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/sound-20070718114232.zip

0 - unzip the files :)

1 right click the setup program - set properties to run in Vista compatibility mode as described earlier in this thread, it may be worthwhile also ticking the 'run as administrator' checkbox.
The driver should install and appear to be working, but you may get no sound.

2 Go into the sound options (control panel/sound/manage audio devices/speakers/properties/enhancements) and disable all enhancements (this will also likely work for the other drivers where it seems to be working but there is no sound).

You should then have working sound.

Any problems - copy the sys files from the install folder to the win7 system32\drivers dir and restart

Thank you

The Toshiba drivers trick did it for my HP zd8000. After four hours of failure, I moved the sys files from the Toshiba folder to the System32\drivers folder and voila!

Trying to install the Toshiba file failed but moving the sys files and a restart brought music to my ears--literally! So far I have sound and Win7 64-bit. We'll see how long the fun lasts....

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

did the toshiba driver not work then? On what machine/version of win7

It has now worked on 5 different laptops (only 2 toshiba's) with similar chips for me, and a reply shows it worked on another hp with win 7 64.

I believe there is a 64bit vista driver on the toshiba site, although I see little reason for, and many against, installing the 64 bit win7 without very good reason.

The Toshiba site sourced inf file can be edited to make the install run on other units. From the Tosh inf file:

[Conexant]
%HdAudioFunctionDriver.Waikiki5047.DeviceDesc% = HdAudModel,HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_14F1&DEV_5047&SUBSYS_1179FF31

It's not HD audio and such is not on the HDAUDIO bus. It's AC97 so it's on the PCI bus.

Have you tried this one?

My initial one was reported by win7 as ac97 audio device.
Since that resolution I just use the driver i listed if chpset is the rockwell/conexant variants. Only tried them on laptops so far.

The hdaudio drivers extended capabilities appear to cause some of the issues with no sound despite the driver appearing to work :

I have gone through this thread several times but still no luck trying all of the drivers posted.
I have installed the latest Realtek AC'97 and the Realtek HD drivers, the Contexant SP35558 driver and still nothing.
The device manager shows a code 10 (This device cannot start) for both the Contexant and Realtek HD drivers.

Please let me know what else I should try, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Well, after initial success with Win7 64-bit I have given up. Eventually I was able to get sound using the Toshiba driver listed in this thread, but while attempting to install it, sometimes I got the same code 10 message and other times the install went through.....My frustration was the video driver for Radeon X600 Mobility. Every solution I found ultimately failed. Some worked for awhile and then quit working. So HP has made sure I can't successfully upgrade my ZD8000 to Win 7 64-bit. It looked promising for a few days....then reality took over.

I ran DriverMax to have it look for the unknown drivers on my computer and it found that I needed the Conexant AC-Link Audio Driver (which is correct). But it told me to download the VMware VMaudio 5.10.0.3506 driver which is a 94% match with my system. The little speaker icon at the bottom right corner of my screen says that the sound is all working correctly. But it isnt. It does not play any sound.

Is the VMaudio driver correct? What do i need to do to get it to play sound?

Drivermax is not perfect. Use Microsoft Update Catalog and enter your PnP ID.
