Hi everyone.

Rite. I think I have really mucked up home groups on my Windows 7 system.

So bear with me.

I mucked around with the home-group feature. I turned off the Home-group feature numerous times because I wasn't quite happy with the folders which it was going to share & wanted to be sure it was set up in the rite way.

Then..when I tried to create again a home group, I got to where I would choose what to share.. and now when I reach this point - It says "Your network connection must have IPV6 enabled to create or join a home group. To enable IPV6 start the homegroup troubleshooter.."

Which, well I have done numerous times only to find no success!

Easy workaround. Use workgroup instead of homegroup. Doesnt use IPv6 and is more reliable.

To use set up a new connection using workgroup instead.

Hello gl1976, and welcome to Seven Forums.

See if you may be able to manually turn on IPV6 using steps 4A and 4B in the tutorial to be able to create your Homegroup afterwards.

Homegroups works perfectly I can assure you of that. I have been extensively testing it for over a year now.

Simply go though this Homegroup check list paying extra attention to the time/date settings and also the registry adjustment. That will take care of most problems you might encounter while setting up a Homegroup network.

You may need to uninstall any A/V software or third party firewall you have installed.
After making sure everything on the list is correct if you are still having problems try delating the following file.

The fix for this problem seems to be Deleting the file idstore.sst under C:\windows\serviceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Roaming\PeerNetworking

After that you must restart the machine then try again to create your homegroup.
