Blue Screens and Random Reboots

Well this one didn't take long at all!

Hello !!

I saw EXCEPTION_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 at svchost.exe which is basically referring to Anti-virus / Firewall so i would recommend to uninstall it run Removal Tool to remove all the entries. Update your BIOS Firmware because the Bugcheck is referring to STOP 0x101: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT which are

a) BIOS bug
b) a driver whose activity is causing the target processor to lock up
c) a hardware defect (temperature, voltage, dust, RFI, outright borkedness...)
- H2SO4

Here a thread that speaks about it http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...0x101-clock_watchdog_timeout-troubleshtg.html

Hope this helps,
Captain

Hey, Carl already suggested that I remove AVG fully so I did that right at the start, the only Anti Virus I have on at the moment is MSE

So what excately do I do with the stress test, just run it until I get a blue screen and upload the dump?

I'm going to check my current BIOS then and will update if I can

Edit: Just after writing this, I got a blue screen, hopefully this one may shed some light on the situation

Edit#2: I just got a reboot, do you guys think there is a chance that the PC reboots at a certain temperature? I monitor the system temp all the day and it rarely goes higher than 40C at max

Edit#3: Another random reboot 10 minutes after the last, I'm going to turn the driver verifier back on I think and will let you guys know what happens

Edit#4: BIOS have been updated, however now my PC fan seems to run at 100% all the time

Edit#5: Another blue screen :O, I've attached it to this post :/

If the computer crash while running stress test or it give you many errors, chance that it's bad is high

Edit#5: Another blue screen :O, I've attached it to this post :/

These two dumps show the following stop errors and little else.

Stop error A - Usual causes: Kernel mode driver, System Service, BIOS, Windows, Virus scanner, Backup tool, compatibility

Stop error 3B - Usual causes: System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory

Edit#2: I just got a reboot, do you guys think there is a chance that the PC reboots at a certain temperature? I monitor the system temp all the day and it rarely goes higher than 40C at max

The system will shut down if the temps get too high, not necessarily reboot.

Edit#3: Another random reboot 10 minutes after the last, I'm going to turn the driver verifier back on I think and will let you guys know what happens

That was going to be my suggestion. Turn it on and let it keep running for at least a day and night. Post any dmps it triggers.

Theres one thing though, after updating the BIOS my computer seems to take a lot longer than usual to boot up and I get a blank screen for about five seconds before the Windows 7 Welcome sign appears

But I'm running driver verifier at the moment and will let you know what happens

Driver Verifier may well be slowing it down. It has to load and then go to work.

You can go to startup tab of msconfig to turn off unnecessary stuffs, it helps your machine start up a bit faster, I hope:) (Start-->Run-->msconfig)

I'm thinking about performing a clean install, then only putting on Xfire, MSN and MSE for anti virus to start with

It's fine, I reinstall often and do it on a few of my PCs when ever they get filled up with rubbish and start to slow down :P

Jason, let us know how it is running after the clean install.
Of course :)
I haven't got around to it yet, aiming to do it as soon as I can tomorrow morning, just backing up everything I need today

Very good. What AV did you install?
The last time I did this I put Avast on

At the moment, I'm just running Microsoft Security Essentials

Ok the problem is resolved, I had a program called TrayIt running which seemed to interfere with Security Essentials and caused it to minimize.

I will run the system like this and will check for blue screens or restarts, thanks for your help

Hope your computer is fine from now on friend:party:

Yep, let's me connect to the router, I got it recently when I upgraded to 50mbit internet, my old G adapter couldn't cope with the speeds

However, it says certified for Windows 7 and seems to have been tested, it's also a known brand, this could have just been a one off
