Hello guys, I have a Dell inspiron 15r special edition and lately I've been getting problems.

My laptop today decided to crash today and encounter an infinite start up repair loop. I've decided to use the dell DataSafe restore and emergency backup to format and re-install the OS but I keep getting the same problem, I have an official windows 7 home premium disk but when I try to use that to install the OS I keep getting 0x8007045D. I tried chkdsk in the command prompt from the start up repair and it said I had 3mb total disk space..

I'm just clueless right now, can somebody help me?

Hi Doodle,

Would like to know details of the error/issue that you face while trying to restore the system back to the factory settings. What are the steps that you performed and at what stage did the restore fail? Apart from the Dell Datsafe restore, other restore options should also be listed in the Windows recovery environment. Would like to know if you tried 'System Restore' instead to see if you could boot to Windows.

'Error 0x8007045D' could point at damaged/corrupt system files. Did you try backing up the system earlier? Also share the make of Windows 7 DVD that you're trying to use. Is it Windows 32 bit or 64 bit. Is it a retail version or an OEM version that you received with the system? This may also be a disk related error; look for any scratches/dust/dirt on the media. Also share if the system was shipped with Windows 7 32 bit or 64 bit Operating System?

I would also recommend running hardware diagnostics to confirm the hardware functionality: http://dell.to/17Ri00I

Do reply with the information. Will take it forward from there.
