I am just amazed that in spite of being asked what exactly is the make and model of the hard drives (both old and new) you have consistently failed.

Can you not read the labels on the drives and post the information alongwith which is the old one and which is the new one?

The name of new hard drive is: WD5000LPVT.
The name of old hard drive is: Toshiba MK1255gsx.

OK, your new drive WD5000LPVT is a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB HDD. Let us start with it.

Test your drive with the manufacturer's diagnostic/repair utility Data Lifeguard Diagnostics for DOS. Download dlgdiag_5_20.zip from WD Support / Downloads / SATA & SAS / WD Blue / SE / SE16 (SATA II) Read the Instructions therein.

First create a bootable MSDOS pen drive using Rufus Rufus - Create bootable USB drives the easy way
( Backup all data in the pen drive for it will all be lost while formatting it with Rufus. Plug your pen drive (remove all other external drives) and run Rufus. In the "Create a bootable disk using" select MSDOS from the dropdown arrow and click on Start. When completed close Rufus.)

Extract the contents of dlgdiag_5_20.zip directly into the newly created DOS pen drive.

Plugin your WD drive into the laptop.

Boot from the MSDOS pen drive using the one-time boot menu.

Against the command prompt C:> type dlgdiag5.exe and press Enter to run the Diagnostics.

Run the Quick Test and then the Extended Test. Let us know the results. If it fails, check the drive on another working computer as you had done earlier. ( I do not know how you did it.) If it fails there also, return rhe drive for replacement.

If it passes both the tests, then Write Zeroes to clean it up and bring it to the factory condition.

Now you may try to install Windows.

But again let us know what OS was originally installed on the laptop, and what Windows Edition you will be installing now including the source media you will be using and how you propose to activate it.

Test of new hard drive finished successfully without error. So now I started process of writing zeroes to hard drive.

Before it was staying Windows 7 Home Edition on this laptop. Now I am going to install Windows 7 Ultimate. Hope after writing zeroes to hard drive Windows installation will start.

Still not working. After writing zeroes to hard drive I started Windows 7 installation again. Still gives the same error message.

I asked you a very pertinent question. What is the source of your Windows Ultimate Media? I had this doubt from the very beginning but decided to clear the HDD first..

Your HDD is good. Your Windows Ultimate is most probably not.

In case it is genuine and has a valid product key and is not corrupt, then most probably the motherboard on your laptop has a hardware fault.

You may confirm this by installing the HDD on any other PC and installing Windows. ( You need not activate it. This is just to confirm that you can install it on another PC on the same Western Digital HDD. Make sure that you again check your HDD and wipe it clean to remove any traces of the failed installation.))

I bought my Windows 7 Ultimate Edition DVD from computer selling shop. So it is genuine After your doubts regarding my Windows installation DVD I just now inserted my old Windows XP Professional DVD disk into this laptop. Just to see if installation starts or not. By the way it is also genuine. Windows XP Professional installation gave the following error message:

***STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78D2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

I suspect that laptop has a problem in mainboard or in hard drive controller.

Glad to know that your Windows is genuine.

So that makes it certain that your motherboard is faulty and you rightly guessed the HDD controller chip.

As I had said in my previous post, you can install the Western Digital HDD on another PC and try installing Windows Ultimate. If it is successful without any problem it is confirmed.

I will do that also. But I am sure on another pc Windows installation will work fine. Cause for testing purposes I attached both hard drives into another pc. Both of them were functioning.
