32 bit to 64 bit.

Hello i want to upgrade my 32 bit pc to 64 bit pc.And is it possible to back up everything on disk C?.I have 4.00gb ram and 3.25 is usable and yes i check if my pc is compabalitable with 64 bit and says yes PC SPECS:

Welcome to the forum.

You can, and should, backup your data. But you would need to do a clean install of the OS and all applications. You cannot backup and restore applications to another OS.

The issue there is that Windows-based programs need to be install from disc or download so as to create Registry entries [so Windows knows how to run them], create Start Menu items and install support files to the proper place in addition to installing the program files in either C:\Program Files for 64-bit programs or C:\Program Files (x86) for 32-bit programs.

You won't see any more useable memory with 64 bit so really no point to doing this unless you intend to increase the memory amount, then it makes sense to do this.

If you want to install 64 bit for 4gb RAM then that is a perfectly good decision. Please let us know how performance compares.

The 64 bit installer for your licensed version is provided along with everything that needs to be remembered to back up, and the steps, tools and methods that assure you'll have a perfect install as long as you follow them.
