Go to start>type msconfig>goto max cpu and max ram and make sure they are both unticked.
Good job zigzag. I can't imagine how that box gets ticked by itself
Thanks
It sometimes gets auto ticked in OS install. OS'es prefer to be installed with less memory.
That's interesting as I always thought you
had to intentionally tick that box.
And yeah I've heard all the horror stories about getting Windows 7 installed with 4 or more gig of RAM but I've never had any problems installing Windows on my Gigabyte X-58 MB with it's 6gig of RAM, or my Intel 975 board with it's 4 gig of RAM. And yeah I just checked and neither system is ticked.
At any rate you learn something new all the time.
Thanks.

That's why I stick around. I learn something new every day. Now, if I could just remember it........

My pleasure and glad to see you are working. Good luck
Wow now that was easy..everyone actually went behind the BIOS and the hardware and motherboard but after all it was Windows which was the culprit
