Hi all
some versions of Acronis True Image are reporting "Not compatable with this version of Windows" .(I'm using the RTM X-64 Enterprise / Ultimate). My version of Acronis is True Image Workstation build 6353.

It DID work under previous releases -- and the stand alone bootable media works as well.

Now this program is a MUST for me - I'm always imaging / backing up / restoring disks and OS'es so it was find a solution or revert back to XP or a previous W7 build.

Anyway the SIMPLE solution is simply to change the executable's name from TrueImage.exe to TI.exe and then it works without problems.

I know a lot of people use Acronis -- don't BUY a new version yet without trying this first.

(Do it AFTER installing the product).

Cheers

I loaded 2010 numerous times and could never achieve full compatability. For instance, it could never succeed in mounting a v disk. I am curious about your statement.

"Anyway the SIMPLE solution is simply to change the executable's name from TrueImage.exe to TI.exe and then it works without problems."

What effect could changing the name of the exe file have on the code contained in it?

Hi there

I've no idea but IT WORKED.

Install is fine - it's only when you run it you get the compatability message.

Maybe there's some OS check somewhere for TrueImage.exe

Anyway the get around worked and this is ONE program I DO NEED - I save images to network drives etc so I need this rather than the HOME version.

Note this is TRUE IMAGE WORKSTATION not TRUE IMAGE HOME.

Well that is a possibility.

Acronis TrueImage Home 10 would not run in the later beta and RTM versions of Windows 7, so I used ATI Home 2009.

Just as an experiment, I uninstalled ATI 2009, installed ATI 10, followed the suggestion above - it worked.

I'm going to have to remember this trick in the future. It may work on other software - or not.

Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately whilst the executable now runs, when I try to run a backup I get an error 'Failed to execute the task script. Error #1,314 - a required privilege is not held by the client'. I've tried diabling the UAC but that hasn't helped. Is it just the one main executable I should rename or are there others? Any ideas?

TIH 2010 build 6029 as well as the previous build have been working flawlessly on my W7 Ultimate x64 system with no work arounds needed. I love this app also, although I don't have full faith and confidence in always being able to restore regular compressed image backups, so I also use Acronis to make clones every week or two, in addition to more frequent image backups. The clones have never failed me. And then I figure I could probably dig more updated versions of various files, if needed, out of my more frequent incremental image backups.
