so I finally decided to update my computer after several crashes and whatever, and now with new update my headphones magicaly don't work. I went to the sound devices and the headphones weren't there. I tried unplugging and plugging it in a few times and nothing but then I plugged it into the microphone jack and it displayed headphones not plugged in. so basicaly my headphone jack dosen't work and I'm pretty sure it's the updates fault.

P.S. I have a laptop which means no alternate audio jack.

What is listed in the Device Manager, Sounds section. Also the Sound Panel, Playback section?

high definition audio sound device

playback
speakers(high definition audo sound device)
headphones not plugged in (even though it is, also this didn't appear until I plugged headphones into the mic jack)

my guess is that the windows updates ruined my headphone jack, though I'm not sure why

High Definition Audio Device, says you only have the generic, basic function, Windows installed sound driver and not the actual driver for your sound hardware.

First thing to do is go to Toshiba and get the correct sound driver.
