Have a little problem I installed 2012 on a friends laptop a fair while ago and he has kept up the licence but now wants the 2015 edition. I have tried the Kaspersky removal in programs keeping the activation code and not keeping it, and grasping at straws I deleted the registry entries for Kaspersky. However attempts at installing 2015 (both the trial and the paid for version for which I am willing to use one of my codes to activate) - after all that it results in me getting this rather annoying message in the pic. I have had to resort to reinstalling the 2012 which installs with no problems and in no time at all – activates no problems and I am guessing it has something to do with the selected folder or drive. Now as the machine has only one drive and I have no idea what it means by folder. Furthermore I cannot understand why deleting the reg entries didn’t clear everything anyway.

Ok Derek I didn't use the remover you linked because the last few times I have done this change over the Start program list remover has been enough and I used it with and without the keep acto code. I thought the reg delete would have scorched it but obviously not.
So can I pick your brain for a minute - can I take it that program info gets stored not only in the reg but in programs and features and in that APPDATA you mention?
I will have another go in a minute and remove with the linked tool because I have the acto on record when needed.
Just as well I kept the 2012 install app on a stick as you cannot get hold of it easily and being Christmas day here there is no support available from Kaspersky.
Oh and when it arrives there a happy Christmas mate

Well mate it didn't work still got that REALLY annoying message. Cannot find anything in APPDATA and am now try again after find reg entries still left in there an removing them. My only guess is that the other times I have done this it has been the next version along and going from 12 to 15 might be a little hard for it unless the owner - her husband is the real time user has done something I don't know about.
It has got me foxed One thing that is intriguing me though is I put this 2 year use one back in 2011 and it is still saying 338 days to run?? So maybe it has embedded itself somewhere unusual. If worst comes to the worst he will have to stick with 2012, because short of a reinstall I don't know where to turn.
PS I meant to add I even deleted a reg back up did and some some CCleaner back ups

If it were me I would go back with system restore, then follow carefully the instructions from the Mfg for the 2012 edition How to remove Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2012

Now I might have hit on something a short while ago I deleted everything I could find then found Kaspersky listed in program files in Users so have deleted it and the saved reg backup it got past that message but then said that Windows Defender was stopping the install and also that the machine might be infected . So I am going to try running MBAM SAS and ADW and disabling Windows Defender and the firewall so I could possibly be on the verge of getting it on and currently downloading and going to run the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Fingers crossed!!

An update I disabled Windows Defender and Firewall and the install got to 75% or thereabouts so something is stopping it and now I have taken off all security MBAM SAS the lot and trying one last time.
Because if it does not install this time I shall have to get on to Kaspersky support because it has got past the pale now.

One last update even a Kaspersky rescue disk will not run past the boot and graphic or text mode the only one saving grace is that is still loads 2012.
I just don't know what else to do apart from making say a Bitdefender rescue disk and try it - the Kaspersky disk does works as I tried it on my main machine so there is something terribly wrong somewhere.

Well its Christmas and miracles do happen. I installed the 2012 back on and then this morning threw caution to the wind and clicked on and ran the 2015 install and low and behold it worked!!
No uninstalling as I think it must be they have included “look for newer versions” in the software so no uninstalling and it installed the 2015 the only thing is I had to add the new activation code I bought for the 2015 but it still runs on the old activation code left over from the 2012 until it runs out and then flips over to the two years I put on.
But after twelve hours sorting this problem it is so relieving to get it sorted. Plus the new activation I bought was for 3 PCs and 2 years for $89 so it was a nice little Chrissie present for my friends eh??

Happy for you John and your friend.
It must of come with it's own uninstaller of some kind. Kaspersky is telling you it doesn't want uninstalled just upgraded.
Their still has to be a way to completely uninstall Kaspersky.

Hmm spoke to son now the machine is throwing those certification error messages whn I open nw tabs and the new tab is set to Google so I cannot work that one out perhaps it has something to do with the Kaspersky. Anyway it is no problem to click with continue anyaway as Google is hardly a threat I would have thought.

Just an update even the techy from Kaspersky in Melbourne via Teaviewer could not work it out s looks like something is terribly wrong with the soft or hardware. But it is working but I am wondering how well/
