A bit dissapointed with the ram score at 2666 but I can give profile #2 2800 MHz a run

I see the motherboard is dual channel. Does Asus make a quad channel motherboard with DDR-4.
Can't seem to find one.

Have you tested all the usb ports? Just curious.

The Asus Sabertooth X99 is quad channel Jack, Mike has one, as far as the Asus Z170, I haven`t seen or even looked for one.

A quad channel board would require an E series Skylake, which hasn`t hit the fan yet.

All the usb ports work fine. I have nothing to check the 3.1 port with yet, time, you must give me time LOL

But the Z170 chipset can support 64 GB in 4 slots Insane !!!

It`s not the Cas Mike, a lower Cas is better, I haven`t even tinkered with it yet, I`ll work on that

This is mine at 2400 but using 2800 timings. It could be a lot better and only 16 GB.

I get this below for 32 GB (4x8GB) G.SKILL DDR3 Quad PC3-19200 2400MHz in 64-bit Windows 10 Pro.

Nice score. I was just trying to see if there was any real difference in Sandy and Haswell E ram. It looks like not a great deal.

I think the biggest difference will be being able to use M.2 for your OS drive.

Shawn, do you think that will make a big difference? If you can transfer data at 2.5 GB/S, it won't help unless you are transferring to another M.2. You can only transfer as fast as the receiving disk can write. As an OS drive, I'm not sure you could tell much of a difference. My response time is .1 ms now. If it was twice as fast, I doubt you would notice. If my math is right, the response time I have now is 10/1000th of a second. If you could cut it down to 3/1000 of a second, I doubt you could tell.

I had every intention of buying the Samsung 950 Pro the day it was released. I got to thinking about that and just couldn't tell it would make that big of a difference. If you are backing up to a mechanical hard drive, I can already transfer faster than the mechanical drive can write. So, what would the advantage be?

EDIT: I'm hoping you can convince me I'm wrong. But it would look good on a benchmark.

Yeah, we'll need to see a real world benchmark to see if there's much difference between them. I'm hoping to have enough room to run my VMs from to make them run faster.

There is so much potential though.
