Any free but effective data recovery tool?

I accidentally deleted a .wav file from the Video folder that I need. I tried several freeware softwares, but none can see it. I installed Easeus Data Recovery, it can see the file, but wants me to subscribe to recover it. Also, every other software I tried and can see the file wants me to subscribe to recover it, in spite of that they are all advertised as free until a specific space limit. The only software that truly sticks to what is advertised is Minitool, that one found the .wav file and can recover it as part of the demo period, but interestingly the recovered file is marked as RAW item and doesn't play when recovered. It sounds as damaged. However it should play fine, because when I preview that file in Easeus that one plays the file correctly as undamaged.

Any suggestions for an effective software that has a true trial mode with recovery or that is freeware?

Sorry for necroing, but nobody mentioned anything good. So I'll leave this for others: use Disk Drill. The best there is, imo.

If you install anything or make any changes it may overwrite the deleted file

Disk Drill is not free. The best free one is SalvageData, hands down. And it's easy to use.
