Hi there, I'm having a problem here with kernelbase.dll... it made some of my applications stopped working.... everytime I run the program like toshiba bulletin board, toshiba blu-ray disc player, toshiba reeltime, a window saying," (example) program has stopped working", windows is checking online for the solution but with no results..... It looks like the apps crashed... I tried to reinstall them.. but again with nothing more but failure... I have also tried to use some free registry cleaner software but again it's not an answer to my problem... I've seen some people also encounter this problem....system restore, re-installing are also not the answer for this problem...., I just bought my laptop, Toshiba Qosmio F750, few months ago, and I encounter with this kind of problem which I think it's not a simple problem... .I use norton antivirus.... I've run the clean boot but i didn't help.... I tried to reregister the kernelbase.dll....it said," the module "kernelbase.dll" was loaded but the entry point Dllregisterserver was not found. Make sure that "kernelbase.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." And just now I tried a system restore to 3 days ago... It failed... As something in "temp" folder can't be found.... I once had blue screen too... What is happening exactly? can anyone help me?

First of Kernalbase.dll is used for compatability purpose for older programs in windows 7 ... prior to Win 7 all call to ntdll.dll was done by Kernal32.dll. Kernelbase.dll was added to make calls to directly to ntdll.dll....

Next try SFC -SCANNOW Command to check for System file damage. You may need to run this several times

Secondly .... the BSOD dumps are referring to a driver issue... specifically the Atheros Wifi dirver.... Please update it from here

It's better to update bios and other drivers as well after doing the above..... You have updates for your system..

Also do windows update as well... i can see lots of Cdrom errors... could be a scratched disk , or try checking the cable or the power to this cdrom.... or if you did an upgrade from a older version of windows to Win 7 there there are hotfixes for that as well.. try doing an windows update..

Do these and let me know how this goes..

Fail... Again

Hi Centaur78,

It's very kind of you to help me like this.... I followed your instructions... but the apps are still not working =( I ran the sfc /scannow.. and it said it didn't find any violation something... whicn means it succeed right? and I've downloaded the atheros driver... but after I extracted and installed it... the setup wizard said whether to modify or remove.. so I chose modify.. and after I finished the setup wizard.. it said that it was successful... but when I checked the version in my device manager... it is still the old one,.... hmmm and I have update the bios and windows update... oh right, when I downloaded the blu-ray disc player and bulletin board newer driver and tried to installed it... for the blu-ray disc player installation, the SMILauncher has stopped working and for the bulletin board, it can't be installed... what happened to my computer exactly? Centaur78, is it really only about updating the driver? is this "stop working" problem related to the BSOD?

Try running the setup in compatibility mode and let me know if it crashes

No difference....

Hi Centaur 78,

There is no difference... I tried to run it in windows 7 compatibility... it still can't installed properly... I know.. but the problem is... i want to play 3D movies... and I can only watch 3D movies with Toshiba blu-ray disc player... =(.... by the way... will this problem get bigger and affect more programs? What exactly cause this problem? hmm... should I use Toshiba recovery wizard? but I'm afraid it will fail and cause me to even can't operate this laptop... cause the only problem now is the apps won't work... while it's been some time since the Blue screen occurred... which I think might not be a problem since it doesn't happen again... So actually, it's not a big deal... but I'm afraid this problem will get bigger and bigger which might cause system failure.... what makes me sadder is I just bought this laptop few months ago... =(
Centaur78, I still hope you can help me...

First tell me what is the version of kernelbase.dll....... you can find it in C:\Windows\System32\kernelbase.dll

right click on the dll and go to properties ans then click on details... This is a 412 KB file

there is another KernelBase.dll file that is also available in SysWoW64 folder...This file has the same version but different size 264KB
