Hello there good people!

I recently bought a new monitor for my desktop and set it all up no problem, but for some reason, I haven't been able to make the sound work. So far, I've tried the usual solutions (I've checked out whether the speakers were the default device, reinstalled all drivers and tried a few others, and checked whether my headset still worked, which it does). The monitor itself uses an HDMI output and has an additional jack for VGA input, so I tried using both at the same time to no avail. What's really bothering is that the system itself says everything fine and even registers audio, but the speakers don't respond at all.

I'm sending you an Amazon link that shows the monitor I'm trying to use Amazon.com: Viewsonic Value VA2265Smh 21.5" LED LCD Monitor - 16:9 - 5 ms: Computers & Accessories

Also I have a Geforce GTX 770 and I tried changing between the NVidia and the "normal" high definition drivers, and still nothing. I'm beginning to think this might be a hardware problem...

If anyone could give me some advice as to what to do, I'll be extremely grateful. And at any rate, thank you for your time!

You can only use one input at a time, either HDMI or VGA. I'm not sure what happens if you connect both at the same time and which one works.

If you connect HDMI, Windows should set HDMI as the audio playback device.

If you use VGA then you must connect a 3.5mm plug cable between the PC's rear panel GREEN speaker out jack to the Speaker in on the monitor. Have you tried this? (Make sure "Speakers" - PC audio) is set as default audio playback device.

I just tried both to see what could happen, but my intent is using the HDMI cable, which Microsoft does set as the audio playback, but nothing comes out of the speakers. So either something else is missing or the monitor itself is malfunctioning.

I would send a screenshot of the list of my Playback menu, but it's in Spanish so I don't know if it would be of any use. I just have two connected at the moment, the Realtek one and the monitor one, and I'm setting the latter as the default, so I guess it should be working.

Two possibilities, the video card is not generating the audio, or a problem internal in the new monitor.

Reinstall (or Install) the correct NVIDA drivers and then check the audio. Get the NVIDA drivers direct from NVIDIA

Thanks for the suggestion! I've just tried and nothing, the computer says it making sound but the monitor isn't picking any.

Well, I'm beginning to think that this thing might have a hardware problem...
