Andrew what exactly is the problem you see in the SAS EULA?

We've been using it here for years and never had a complaint. It needs to have its trial version declined if not purchased and deselected from startup, is all I've seen.

Another thing you can do is after unchecking the things you don't want and down load the program you wanted. Check your computer for the things you unchecked. Sometimes you will still get them even though you unchecked them. Two that come to mind that installed after I indicated I didn't want them are Babylon and the Ask Tool bar.
Their also seam to be a lot more PUP than their use to be.

^ You think ask is bad, don't even get me started on Babylon. I've waded through crap trying to fix a "slow" computer with that evil software on it.

Ok. I take back what I said. I will own up. My mistake. I actually noticed
that wot was flagged in mistake. My major concern was what I read in the privacy policy. I misread it.

The latest IZArc (4.1.8) installer attempts to install multiple programs.

I updated AVG in one of my VMs yesterday and it has a tricky toolbar installer screen (I foolishly didn't screenshot it).
It has checkboxes and "Decline", "Back" and Next" buttons.

I had the installer "lying around" and I needed to install something in my VMs.

Bloatware. What's amazing is that they were riding high 10 years ago as the best free AV, then bloated up and didn't even seem to notice as they lost all favor. They've never been regarded here as anything but bloatware during the whole Win7 era. You'd think they'd have noticed by now and slimmed down a bit.

Meanwhile Avast added the web crapware and gadget that seem designed to drive off users who don't want to be bothered, in the face of MSE which doesn't bother you ever again after a 30 second install. If I were Avast I would have dropped the annual registration but they seem to be going the other direction, in the storied tradition of AVG...

I don't mind declining the trial on MBAM during install because I know that its paid service is what I'd recommend for the chronically infected. None of my Typhoid Mary's and Harry's have ever gotten infected again after buying MBAM Real Time protection, and some of them seem to look for ways to get infected. I had one call me to ask how to turn off MBAM because it wouldn't let him download an infected player he wanted anyway. Some people can't even do porn right. :huh:

I don't see how thats crapware. Its easily turned off or uninstalled unlike avgs toolbar. Doesn't slow me down ether. Also if you choose custom install you can avoid it.

I like avast webrep, its just like wot (which I also have).

I do agree though they are getting a little pushy with ads, which you didn't mention but I will. But not to an extent that is frustrating.

Again, my opinion.

Greg how about the people turn off their security programs because it stops there torrent download and then post they don't know how they got infected. It must be because this or that security program has failed.

I never had any problems with AVG, except for a couple of months during 2009(?).
I had an issue eerily similar to the one posted on this thread: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/306608-random-20-second-freezes-2.html

There was a significant delay when I:

• Clicked on the Start Menu button
• Tried to start a program

The wretched pop-down ad annoyed me though.

The latest version has a non-resizable window (I hate non-resizable windows).

Agreed.
I can't see the point of that yearly registration drivel (I had to re-register last month).

I just did some updates on one of my backup VMs and I was able to get a screenshot of the AVG Toolbar screen.
