Hello everyone.

My Dell 9010 AIO started locking up about a week ago and when I ran the Dell diagnostics, I got an error "2000-0142" on the hard drive. Error code 2000:0142 means that the hard drive has gone bad and requires a replacement so while I'm waiting (and waiting) for the replacement HD from Dell, I have been backing up everything I can think of. Is there anything I have missed?

All on an external HD
Windows back-up
System image
System repair disc (64 bit) on a CD
All items in C:\Users\MyName (includes App Data folder)
C:\Program Data

I also exported my bookmarks & banking software data

Anything else? Thanks!

You say system image what are you going to do with it? First you don't know what is corrupted second if you write it to the new disk it will write bad blocks to the new drive and can't be reversed unless you have taken special methods. A clean install is the best option

The best time to make a system image is before problems develop. Waiting until they do may be too late. A system image of a failing disk may not be usable.

Thanks for the tips.

I was just making every kind of back-up I could think of. Dell is supposed to be sending a "Dell Direct USB Recovery Key Win7 Professional 64-bit CUS KIT, WW MUI, ALL" along with the new hard drive so between that and the OS disk I got when I got my system, I should be OK to do a clean install on the new HD.
