Hi! I'm running windows 7 on an older HP laptop. Yesterday, my battery icon started saying "plugged in, not charging" I don't know if there is some system device or application to show why this happened. Is there something I can check out? Maybe some controller that says "charge laptop" or "do not charge laptop". Please help. I don't know where to look on my PC, and when the battery DOES run out I will be sunk!

I just went to one of your faq's and I remember now that I had changed my power option a day or so ago, to optimize (I had thought) my power usage. Now I'm kicking myself and so relieved. Because since last night it's been showing 95% available, and I've been using it a lot (even tho it's not charging) so I did this to myself.

Hello nancitalopez and welcome to Seven Forums.

Glad to hear things are OK. Just for future reference, there's a free tool called BatteryInfoView that can provide a lot more info about your laptop's battery. Depending on how old your HP laptop is the battery could be reaching its end of life.

BatteryInfoView - View battery information on laptops / netbooks
