BIOS update made system crash!!

Hi,

I need a help to fix my lappy issue..

Lenovo Z570; WiFI was not detecting the router so i have downloaded drivers and updated from lenovo support store, still the problem was not fixed so i found some suggestion as to update the BIOS. I did the same from lenosupport store it self, after on lappy got crashed!! windows is loading but after that when logo display time its just going freeze for a while and blue screen displays for a second and getting re-started!!

tried all the available options through boot menu... like restore for previous state/safe mode boot/last good config/system recovery etc.. still its unsuccessful!!

Even try to format and re-install, after changing the priority of boot to hard disc its still going with the regular boot as from HDD!!

Please help me to resolve

Well first off, flashing the bios would have no affect on connecting to your router, the problem you had was within windows, or with the router. Next time just reboot the router, then reboot windows and it should fix the problem. But anyway, go into the bios and reset to defaults, reboot the pc and let us know what happens.

Enter BIOS setup at boot to reset to Optimal Defaults, Save and exit.

If that fails there's likely a BIOS setting that was changed when you flashed it causing Win7 to become unbootable.

First suspect is SATA controller setting. What is the setting now? Try another until you've tried them all.

Next check for a setting for Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module (CSM) and report back what they are.

Thanks for your reply. I tried re-booting several times with all the available options (safe mode, repair, last good config..etc) and also with the default settings in boot screen still the problem is not resolved!!

I also try to re-install the OS, after changing the priority to DVD then also OS is loading from HDD only!!

What do you mean by this :

Did you change the boot order and save changes in the bios, then boot from the dvd ?

His BIOS update has caused Win7 to become unbootable.

Boot into BIOS setup by tapping the key given on the first BIOS screen for BIOS setup. Once inside look through the tabs to find Reset to Optimal Defaults, choose that, save settings and exit.

If Win7 will still not boot then boot back into BIOS setup and look for the SATA controller setting to Choose AHCI, save and exit again. If it's set to AHCI, try another setting to see if Win7 will start.

Now reboot and choose the BIOS Boot menu key also shown on first screen, choose DVD drive to boot a new DVD you burn from Steps 1 and 2 of Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Follow the steps to get a perfect reinstall.

I have changed the priority to CD Rom and saved the settings, I re-started the lappy still OS is loading from HDD only (as how it was earlier (before changing the priority))!!

Please advise

You have to have a bootable install DVD in the drive to boot from it. & watch for the prompt "press any key to boot from CD/DVD"

Win7 is on a DVD so make sure you have a DVD drive or use a flash stick installer.

Is this a DVD you know for a fact will boot in another PC? If not I would burn another since it's readily available to download your licensed version along with the tool to burn to DVD or write to flash stick in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

DVD what im having is the bootable disc only. DVD driver was working fine, we use to watch movies; after the BIOS update iam not sure if any problem caused!! but in the boot priority settings screen im able to see the CD rom line!

Actual prob : after starting the lappy, windows loading message is appearing and when exactly the windows 7 logo starts to display with four dots rolling from in, it strucks for a while and blue screen for 1/2 seconds and getting re-start!!

Are you able to follow the steps we are giving, and keep up with them?

Do you know the blue links are tutorials and videos which show you how to do them?

Go back and work through the steps given, dont' skip any, ask back if you need more help to do them.

this happened to me because i forgot to change it to ahci again. when you flash your bios all the changes get resetted to default.

Right click on the connection icon in the bottom right system tray to Troubleshoot Problems with your wireless adpater.

Is its driver installed and functioning in Device Manager?
