Bioshock finally working

I've had this issue with a few games. It crys there is no directx. I install the cd dx and it works. Go figure. I got a free copy of bioshock on steam but it never really interested me. Glade to know this is the solution for the problem though.

Thanks for the reply, rvbfan. I finally found a site that had detailed descriptions of the plasmids and tonics and stuff and read up on the difference. Somebody even posted a graph on it.

I decided to Harvest, since after thinking about it that is what a sane person who had just crash landed at a lighthouse in the middle of the ocean and being the only survivor found an expansive underground city full of crazy people and oversized mining robots would do. ;)

I have similar problems a while back with no sound when played in Windows 7.

My system:

O/S : Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit
CPU : Intel Core i5 760 2.7 Ghz
Mem : 4Gb 1600
Grafix : NVidia GeForce 9800 GTX+
Sound: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Platinum Fatal1ty Championship Series

I am using all the latest drivers and no sound until I came across the post by Prv8J0k3r (Thanks a heap). I downloaded and update the Rapture3D drivers and voila! All the sound came back without needing to set any compatibility mode or setting Bioshock to DirectX 9 .
