Hello I am trying to troubleshoot a work computer and it keeps on going to a black screen and shutting down periodically this was in the event viewer. I forgot how to attach a dump file so if someone can let me know how to do that it would be great.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000116 (0xfffffa800d1814e0, 0xfffff8800fddde2c, 0xffffffffc000009a, 0x0000000000000004).

Hello mate. Seeing you onboard after a long time, and missing your 3D works.

Your BSODs are stop 0x116, usually a display/graphics related error. Though the display driver is the latest. So let us check the other things first?

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
eXtreme Power Supply Calculator
Also let us know the wattage of the PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Is the computer overclocked? As you are getting BSODs, you should stop overclocking and run all the hardware components like CPU, GPU and RAM to their default settings.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.

If all are well and up to the mark, test by changing the display driver. Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.

  • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
    • GeForce Experience
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Let us know the results. And, all the best.

I think I may have narrowed it down to a bad card because if I go to sli and have the monitors split between the two cards it freaks out on one of the monitors and if I switch the cords between the two monitors the other screen freaks out makes me think that one of those cards is possibly bad, Thoughts?
