It does show in disc managment as un-initialized and un-allocated. But it won't let me do anything with it. The dock was not an opened box at Best Buy, it was completely sealed, from the shrink wrap on the outside and all of the parts on the inside as well. I have other drives I can try on Tuesday. I won't have access to them until then. They are at my other house and I cannot get there until tuesday. I will see what happens with one of those. There are as many as 5 of them, however, I think they are older and might be IDE not SATA so that would be an issue. I might be able to have the IT guys at work look at it all tomorrow. You might be best off to attach the disk to a Vista system and pull the data off.

First thing I would do is plug in another drive and see if it opens normally in Explorer. No sense assuming the HD has a problem when you could have a defective connector in the BlacX. Divide and conquer. First you have to find out which side of the divide has the problem

If all else fails, you may want to give Recuva a try. It has recovered files for many.
