Blue screen error..plz i need help

It's on page 3-19 of your motherboard manual.

Asus calls it 'DRAM Timing Mode' and they use N and not T.
Go to DRAM Timing Control > 2nd Information > DRAM Timing Mode.

Change it to 2N.


What slots do you have the RAM installed in?
Count from the CPU side.

Hi Dave,I did memtest on cold boot with the above configuration and it detects lot of errors.

Was the IMC voltage manually set to 1.2v and the DRAM at 1.6v?
DRAM Timing Mode set to 2N?
DRAM frequency at 668 MHz?

If the above is correct then run memtest86+ with one RAM card at a time, if you get any errors on any of the tests you can stop the test and go to the next test.

If you get errors with RAM card #1 in slot #2 then put it in slot #1 and run memtest86+ again.

If you get errors with RAM card #2 in Slot #4 then put it in slot #3 and run memtest86+ again.

If RAM card #1 in slot#2 passes the test and RAM card #2 fails in slot #4, then run RAM card #1 in slot #4.

You are checking for bad RAM cards and for bad motherboard slots.

Once this is done you will know which componet needs to be returned.

Let us know the results.

Hi Dave, after doing several test using ram #1 and #2 in MB slot #2 and #4 and vice versa.i have discovered ram #1 is the bad ram,I have yet to test it in MB slot #1 and #3(i need to remove my cpu coolerand turn it the other way if i want to test ram slot #1,i have the same cooler as you).And if there are no problem with the MB,should i go forth in exchanging the ram.

You can test the good RAM card in slot #3, this will tell you if the other memory channel is good.
Also if there is a memory controller problem.

Can you confirm this information?

If the above information is correct, set the first four DRAM timings at 9-9-9-25 and leave the rest on auto, make sure the DRAM Timing Mode set to 2N.
Then run memtest86+ with the 'bad' RAM card in slot #2 or #4.

Hi Dave, yes i have set imc, dram voltage and ram timing according to what you have advised me.So now i have to try and set the dram timing to 9-9-9-24 and test the bad ram.i will let you know of the outcome, thanks.

Set it to: DRAM timings at 9-9-9-25.

Let us know if that changes anything on the bad RAM card.

Hi Dave, i had exchange my ram for new one that had been tested by their tech,will do memtest again soon.Now i have a question about reformating my hard drive,how do i go about doing so?and once i have reformatted my hard drive, should i install the bios version 1502 before or after os installation?i will let u know of the memtest outcome.

Do you want to format your hard drive (HDD)?
This will erase all data on the drive leaving it as it was when you bought it, a blank drive.

Be sure you need to flash your BIOS before attempting this, there is always a risk of a bad BIOS flash, this can leave your motherboard un-usable.

Your motherboard site lists the log for the 1502 BIOS update:

Fix BIOS setup item "Intel(R) SpeedStep(TM) Tech" can't set to "Enable" if BCLK over than 149

Are you having issues with stepping?
Your snip on post #34 shows the Core Speed 2891.9 MHz, was your system at idle?
If your Core Speed is always the same as above, when at 160MHz bus speed, then this BIOS update would help you if you go back to 160MHz bus speed and want the stepping to work.

If you are not having this issue, then I would not recommend flashing your BIOS.

Your CPUZ snip on post #38 shows your bus speed at 133.7 X 9 = 1203.7MHz, this is indicating that your Stepping is working at that speed.

Hi dave, yeah my system was at idle when at 2891.9 MHz.how will i notice this speedstep?,and since it has a risk then i better not flash new bios version unless it is worthit.i was thinking about formating cause everytime i shutdown or restart my comp,there will always be a background app not close and i thought it could also clear all those recent errors(not sure if it will affect my hard disk)

When your system is at idle CPUZ should show your CPU frequency at about 1200 MHz and CPU voltage about 0.88v, just like the CPUZ snip on post #38.

Speed Step will slow down the CPU frequency and voltage when your System is at idle or low CPU requirements and speed it up, frequency and voltage, when more power is required. This helps keep the system cool and uses less power.

Its too early to judge but today i decided to run memtest again to make sure..i was shock to find lots of errors but what amaze me that my system has not bsod since i change to this pair of kit.is there any setting i could try this time..timing is 9-9-9-24 now

Can you post the CPUZ Memory and SPD tabs?

Check your BIOS voltages and post them for the IMC voltage and the DRAM?

imc voltage is 1.2v and dram is 1.6v
