Solved Blue screen message??

Having recently upgraded to 7 on my acer aspire 1690 and finally getting all of the necessary drivers, I now get the following blue screen messages at random intervals:

***Hardware Malfunction
Call your vendor for support
NMI: Channel Check / I0CHK
***The system has halted***

Anyone have any ideas? I don't know where to start with it...

One thing that I want to let u know is that your model of aspire acer 1690 doesn't support window 7.

ah true, but I thought that it was worth a try because I really can't afford another laptop at the moment and I need to run cad software - and 7 seems to but much faster and more stable than xp.

I guessed that the only reason that it was 'incompatible' was because acer has stopped releasing drivers for it?

yeah, it is true sometime. You need drivers to work, especially with laptop, the drivers are limited by the company that manufacture the laptop. I'm sorry that it didn't work the way that you want

ok cheers anyway, ill keep tweaking it a little longer - it does seem to have stopped doing it, at least for a while.

problem seems to have disappeared after windows did lots of up dating etc. appears to run very well now!
