When booting, the Windows boot.ini screen does not appear. It goes from my Bios directly to the windows install screen. I want to run in safe mode to check on artifacting (green dots) that started to appear, but I never get the choice. Is there something in 'msconfig/boot' that I need to highlite?

edit: I managed to get into Safe Mode by turning off the computer with Windows 7 running and then restarting. I did not see any artifacts. I rolled back to the previous driver and the artifacts are still there. It might be my video card.

Thanks

The green dot problem solved. The yellow DIMM slots on the motherboard appear to be defective. How do I get the boot.ini to load at startup?

W7 does not have a boot.ini. That has been gone since XP. If you want to get to the menu with option to start in safe mode, you simply hit F5 or F8 sometimes F3 during startup depending on motherboard.

Just start tapping one of the mentioned keys as soon as your bios start and until menu appears. You may get a menu that does not have safe mode option but will have a link labeled more options which will lead to safe mode.

Thanks, F5 did the trick. F8 brings up my bios boot list.
