"Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"

Just installed Avira antivirus and rebooted to complete the installation. I am getting the error "Boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible" whenever I attempt to boot. I have tried using the Windows 7 disc to repair but it does not work as it runs for a few seconds then instructs me to reboot.

The hard drive was initially not appearing but luckily I can now access all my files from this OS, however I would really like to gain access to my main OS again. I have also reset the CMOS but it hasn't changed anything.

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Have done but it seems to have modified something which is preventing the primary OS to be booting up.

How did you remove avira anti4us if OS is not booting?
I can still access the files through my secondary OS so went ahead and deleted all the Avira stuff. Quite a noob so maybe I haven't removed it completely?

Malware apps are notoriously difficult to removed and must be removed by using the appropriate removal tool. Use the tool and if you still are having problems you may need to re-install it just to remove it completely

Never ever delete files that way! Windows still thinks it's installed and has a lot of settings pointing to it. Probably you removed the unistall file as well (?)

Try system restore in recovery environment. So go back in time a few days. (to the time your pc was working fine)
