Hi everyone,

I just recently built a new computer and it freezes randomly. Very annoying!! Mouse cursor and keyboard freezes.

Pc specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte B150M-DS3h socket 1151
RAM:Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 8GB DDR4-2400
CPU: Intel Core i5-6500
Power supply: Corsair Builder 500W
graphics: XFX Radeon R9 380X 4GB DD
Hard drive: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM and Sandisk SSD PLUS 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive

I don't know much about computers so any help would be greatly appreciated!

No virus scanner gets it all. This is narrows down the window for contracting a virus. By using multiple operating systems you can use different virus scanners with no risk of conflict.

Have you checked Device Manager for hardware driver issues? Especially on a new build I would ensure the latest drivers were all installed.

I've checked the device manager for hardware driver issues and installed all the latest drivers.
I'm currently checking to see if the problem persists in safe mode. What will this tell us?

Hangs and freezes are often driver issues. You say 'random' so assuming the errors aren't linked to specific programs (games?) and you have run hardware diagnostics, check windows error logging. Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Application. Critical errors there can provide clues.

Yes, it freezes randomly, requiring a force shutdown. I've checked through the log, and a crtical error did appear. Source: WMI, event ID: 10

Download and install the latest drivers for you MOBO. One in particular is the chipset drivers. "NOTE" the Microsoft Hot Fix in the chipset section. Under choose your OS Select Windows 7 64 bit.

Did you get your graphics card drivers from Windows Update or the manufacturer website? Try a different graphics driver (if one is available) and see if that makes a difference. You should be able to roll back from Device manager without too much grief. I saw a few comments on Newegg about driver issues with this card.

Thanks guys for all your help.

Heres a list of everything I've done so far:

1. Download and install all drivers found on Gigabyte's website for my mobo.*
2. Download and install graphics driver found on AMD's website for my card.
3. Booted in safe mode to see if it freezes
=> it still froze
4. Device Manager shows no warning signs
5. Ran memtest for 2 passes with no errors
6. Monitored HWMonitor to see if it was CPU overheating
=> doesn't go past 30C when it freezes
7. Download and install all available windows 7 updates, even the optional ones
8. Here's the errors/warnings in the Event Viewer > Windows Logs > Applications
Hopefully this formats right...
Code:
Errors:
Source Event ID
WMI 10
PostgreSQL 0
SidebySide 30
CAPI2 4107

Warnings:
Winlogon 6000
User Profile Service	1530

I've noticed that when I play Dota 2 it doesn't freeze when I'm playing, which can go as long as 2 hours.
But when I play poker on the Bovada client it tends to freeze?
I'm not sure about this though. Those postgres errors are related to the bovada environment.
But it's also froze when I was browsing on firefox and even just clicking through windows explorer.
Don't know how useful this info might be, just putting it out there.

*I think I may have been installing the wrong driver for my mobo.
When you search on google for the motherboard there are two options and the first one is for the DDR3 version.
I'm pretty sure I've been clicking that link so I think I may have installed drivers for the other mobo version.
I've gone back and reinstalled all the right drivers now though.
Is it fine to overwrite the possibly wrong drivers just like that? Or will there be unexpected problems by doing that?
Do I need to reinstall Win7 and then reinstall the right drivers?
Does installing the wrong drivers harm the hardware?

I think I'll try rolling back the graphics drivers like RogerR said above.
Do I just keep rolling back version by version until I stop freezing?
How far back should I go?

I won't even pretend to understand the bovada environment, but since it is referenced in your error, consider there might actually be a conflict with that SQL database. You might troubleshoot a little in that direction to ensure you have all the prerequisites if you are running it through a browser. E.g. if you end that process, do you still hang in FF?

Well, it's froze when the bovada client isn't opened. So i'm not sure if this is the actual cause. I'll try to uninstall it and run my computer without it completely.
Earlier, I didn't post all the errors I got, and I apologize for that. Here they are.

The reason I suggested to try running your o/s in safe mode is because safe mode only installs the essential drivers to get your o/s up and running. With the o/s operating in the standard "bare bones" mode you can eliminate some of the variables. If everything seems to work well in safe mode then you can make note of those things which do not load in safe mode and test them by disabling one at a time and rebooting. I realize this involves a lot of rebooting but it does seem to be a non-essential/non-compatible driver causing the problem. If you have installed the wrong bios you may need to clear cmos and re-flash your bios with the correct bios update. The manufacture of your motherboard generally will provide this download for free. Simply reinstalling the operating system won't solve this problem if you have flashed your bios with the wrong settings. Above all stay positive :) In most cases this problem can be fixed!
