Solved New build PC freeze up!

Hello all!

I got me a new PC a few weeks agoe, and its now starting to make problems for me
It just freeze up randomly, and i can not use my keyboard, mouse or any thing. and it comes a high looping static sound from my headset, and i end up in restarting my PC.
I have been luring around on other threads to see if i can find any help, but no luck
the only thing i can think on that might be the problem is a registry error of some sort, but not really sure.
Im not any good with PC at all so not sure what to do.

mobo: Gigabyte GA-PH67-UD3, Socket-1155
RAM: Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9
CPU: Intel Core? i5 Quad Processor i5-2300
PSU: Chieftec Nitro Series BPS-950C 950W PSU
Grafics: HIS radeon hd 6950 2gb gddr5 turbo review
Hard drive: Western Digital Caviar® Black 500GB

Your problem may be caused by many things > RAM problems >graphics drivers > overclocking > heat issues > using more than one AntiVirus at the same time > etc etc.

Some steps you may wish to try -

* Make sure that you are not over heating.

* If overclocking, restore to original

* In an administrators account type cmd in search.
In cmd type sfc /scannow.
This will report and fix minor problems.
Take note of what is said at the end.
Should your computer freeze, try to do the tests in safe mode.

* Search > type eventvwr
Go to the windows log>application tab.
Look for red critical errors.
Should the be any that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem note the event ID, and the source codes and tell us what they are.

*Clean boot. You may discover what is causing your problem.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7

* Go to search, type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers

* Download and run SuperAntiSpyware{free} or Malwarebytes {free} - do a full scan after you update.

* Run a full antivirus scan.

* Oh! BTW - Have you had any BSOD's?

The PC is not overclocked, and as far as i can trust easytune6 its not overheating.
And the PC dos not crash in safe mod, had it running for a few houers with out a crash. And i havent gotn any BSOD.
and ive run CCleaner and avira a few times and the PC is clean.

Ok, ive just done the SFC scan, and it came back clean.
and all the drivers are up to date.
And the only red warrnings i found in eventvwr was from HL2.exe and skype.
found a few yellow warnings saying some thing about registry error of some sort. The ID is 1530, but dont know where to find the source code.

BTW, the freezeing started after i got me a new gaming keyboard, can that have any thing to do with it? cuse i just swaped back to my old one, and i havent had a freeze in 1 day so far.

Keep testing them both. See if the pattern continues.

Ok, so far the PC has been on for around 2 days now, with no lockups, so it seems that the keyboard was the problem for some strange reason.
Any one got an idea on how?
Still not gona close this thread as solved yet, gona have it open for mabye 2 more days just to be sure, so i dont have start a new one.

did you install drivers for the gaming keyboard?

If you didnt, then it is probably not talking to the computer correctly

If drivers were installed, was it from a cd? If so, the driver may be old. An updated driver might be available on the Manufacturers website

If drivers were up to date from the MFg site, then it might be a faulty keyboard or another component driver for your system that is conflicting.


If you are going to test on your comp, I would back up all data first, create a restore point and a form of backup image if possible.

Well 1 min after i posted the last post i got a freeze. damn this is pissing me off..!
Any one got a idea on what the problem can be?

Your post says new build, did you build this pc yourself?

Where did parts come from? was it a barebones kit? or did you pick all components?

well the PC is starting to get around 1 month old now. And it was a friend of mine who build the PC witch he has done lots of times, and the parts came from a website witch both me and every one i know orders componets from, and i picked up the parts at the post office each part in its own box

I was asking in case this was your first build or if the person who built it was experienced since you said you are not that good with computers.

Since this is a new comp though and only a month in, this could be a component failure. Pretty much there is a "burn-in" duration in which if a component is going to fail, due to manufacturing defect, it will.

I would run SFC scan two or three more times if you only ran once, since it sometimes doesnt catch anything on the first pass.

And since you said there was a registry error, i would get Memtest and run it to test your RAM.

Can you give us a screenshot of the Error message for the Registry?

If this is seen repeatedly, it points to RAM if its a different address each time, then there is something else going on

can it still be a HW problem when i aint getting any lockup in safe mode?

will get the memtest and the other program and test it.

Just reinstaled W7... so hope that fix the problem! will post back in a few days.

well, dont looks like that helped any thing...
Now when i look in event viewer, and there is no errors in application, but in system i see 1 critical and 1 error. The critical says some thing about kernel power, and the error says some thing about unexpected shutdown. Any ideas?

Re Event Viewer > System Errors.
Use the snipping tool to get a snip of the error Source & Event ID.

these 2 are the only thing i can see in the event log, i do see a critical about kernel power but is only right after i had to push the reset button on my PC.

Ive tryed lots of other things like setting the power preformance to high, some forumas said that would help to other with a similar problems. all the drivers are up 2 date as far as i know. i really got no clue on what the problem can be, mabye HW related, a problem for me then i that i aint got any extra parts and switch the components and try to find the foulty HW. so getting kinda stuck here !!!

Is it still working fine in safe mode?

I would still run memtest and see if you have a RAM issue.
