BSOB lost power during windows recovery, error 0xc000000f

I got this used laptop from a friend for a steal because it needed a new power cord.
HP Pavillion Dv4 AMD vision 2.00ghz dual, 320gb western digital HD

So the first thing I did after I replaced the power cord was to start a system recovery (through HP's Cyberlink recovery manager) to wipe the computer and start fresh (reinstalling windows from Partition)

Halfway through the reinstalling of windows I accidentally pulled out the power cord!!! Computer died instantly!! Idiot!

Now every time I start the computer I get this..........

Boot Manager:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware of software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If you do not have this disc, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance.

Status: 0xc000000f

Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.


I don't have an installation disk..

I have a windows 7 repair disk that I used...
In the system recovery options my Operating System comes up as "Windows Setup" not Windows 7...
I still have access to the Recovery Manager and the command prompt but every time I access the recovery manager I no longer have the option to perform a system recovery (greyed out). I only have the option to do a Microsoft System Restore, which when I run it, it says No restore points have been created.

I am thinking that the driver for the Hard Drive somehow got lost, don't really know just guessing.....

I tried the load driver option in the system recovery options but I cant find a driver and don't really know where to look.

Any help on what to do next would be appreciated......

You can try tapping the F11 key again at boot to trigger HP System Recovery but that is a grossly inferior install hampered by the worst load of bloatware in the industry. Instead as long as the COA sticker on bottom of laptop has a readable Product Key I'd do what most tech enthusiasts do and wipe the HD to Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Everything you need is in the link to get a perfect install.

During the booted Custom install I'd use the Drive Options shown in Steps 7/8 of Clean Install Windows 7 to delete all partitions and create and Format New as you wish, or just click Next and the installer will do it for you.

Then I would Clean Up Factory Bloatware if you are going to settle for the inferior factory install.

Hopefully some day you'll get to experience native Win7 perfect performance, but it sure as hell won't be on HP factory preinstalled Win7.

I'd like to try the clean install but the product key on the bottom of the computer is faded and some of the letters are unreadable. Would a keyfinder like "Magic Jelly Bean" work in finding the code to reinstall? I've tried one of those keyfinders before with office and it didn't work.

Also would I need to save any drivers before doing the clean install?

A keyfinder would only find the Factory SLP mass activation key which is not the same as the consumer Product Key on the COA sticker. If you can partially read the key perhaps you can figure it out, or sometimes during phone activation the agent can determine through other info the exact key or issue you another.

There is also a way to back up the Factory SLP key to reinstall it after a Clean Reinstall, but you'd have to research it yourself as the Admins have decided it is not supported here even in legit uses as this would be.
