Hi!

I have bought an HP EliteBook 8740w. It came with preinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I replaced the delivered harddisk with an SSD harddisk (Crucial RealSSD C300) and installed Windows 7 from scratch. Besides the Windows 7 DVD, there was also a driver DVD which I installed too.

After the Installation of Windows 7 and the HP driver DVD, I installed multiple programs and attached some external hardware. I do not know anymore, if the first BSOD came after the installation of a certain program or hardware... During the last two days, I had 4 (or 5) BSOD's. Please find attached the ZIP with all relevant files. The only thing I could figure out is, that the BSOD has something to do with pci.sys...

It would be amazing if somebody could help me finding the error! Many thanks in advance!

Best regards
Michelle (sorry for my bad English...)

Your Nvidia driver was involved in the crash(nvlddmkm.sys)

- Boot into safe mode with networking

Hi yowanvista

Many thanks for your reply!!! I followed your instructions and look forward, that the next BSOD will wait for a few years...
Is there any possibility to check whether the driver update saved the problem or not?

Many thanks again!
Best regards, Michelle

Hi

Unfortunately I had another BSOD yesterday while trying to run a DVD on Microsoft Media Player. :-(

But it seems to be another error this time - something with ntoskrnl.exe.

It would be great if somebody could help me fixing this problem! (I read about the Driver Verifier but I am a little bit anxious trying it myself...)

Many thanks in advance
Michelle

Yes, use driver verifier, it will help us to determine the faulting driver(s)

OK. But I'm not at home until the end of January and I do not have the Windows DVD with me. So I think it's better to wait until I'm at home, before running driver verifier - because if I could not reboot my computer, this would be very bad for my work...

I hope that my notebook will survive until the end of January! ;-)

Best regards
Michelle
