BSOD after system freezes, Driver_Power_State_Failure

After using the system for a period of time, perhaps an hour or so, the system will freeze and sometimes loses internet connection as well. No amount of waiting resolves the issues. When I select system shut down, after closing all open apps, I get a message that a background task is still running...I have to force it to shut down, as no amount of time will get it to stop running.

Then I get the BSOD, with the Driver_Power_State_Failure.

This system has been flaky (freezing up, and tough to browse heavy ad/video sites like news sites) for a long time, but the BSOD is new the past week or two.

I've attached the zip file from DM log collector.

Appreciate any help.

Hi kpm1221.

Do you use Bluetooth on a regular basis?

Can you disable Bluetooth, at least as a test?

Report us for any further BSOD after disabling bluetooth.

Thanks Archie!

I don't use the embedded laptop bluetooth at all. I do have a bluetooth USB that I use with a Logitech mouse.

I've disabled the bluetooth, will let you know if the BSOD persists...

While I have your attention, I've been trying to update my drivers but several won't update. Per the Intel site, there are newer 7 Series/C216 Chipset drivers and a newer HD Graphics 4000 driver, but when I load them they don't change in my Device Manager. Do you have any suggestions for that?

Thanks again - really appreciate the support.

Well, please upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :

  • Download and execute Driverview
  • View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
  • Edit > Select all
  • File > Save Selected Items
  • In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
  • Zip the .txt file and upload it.
It will help us to judge the situation of the drivers perfectly, so that the appropriate steps can be taken. :)

If there is no driver for windows 7, then it should be (I dont know about this, but logically) incompatible with windows 7. In that case the possibilities of malfunctions are always there. But I will ask for some more opinions. I have requested Maxie to have a look at your thread.
