BSOD after windows updates

Hello,

New computer (3 months old), Acer desktop AX5900. Core i3. Windows 7 home premium 64bit. Started intermitent BSODs after a monthly windows update. Scrolled back and all fine. Happened again in similar circumstances so downloaded updates in twos and threes. Seemed ok for a bit. Now again.

Perf monitor says keyboard/mouse drivers not working but seems fine. Well was; now writing this in safe mode. Any ideas gratefully received.

Well, after not using for a day, computer now seems back to normal.

Had a look at perf mon again though and is still reporting ps2 keyboard and mouse not working properly. Computer actually uses wireless keyb and mouse (working perfectly).

Also says 'a service...unexpected error code'. Trouble is all the windows links in each perf mon report section take you to totally unrelated web sites (vista, xp) so are no use at all.

What generally happens now is comp will work perfectly til I next try download some windows updates.

Any thoughts gratefully received.

Don't worry about the PS2 keyboard and mouse - these are common problems that I usually ignore. I've tried troubleshooting them and have had no luck (and the users have reported no problems with their keyboards and meeces).

p2psvc (Peer Networking Grouping) and PNRPsvc (Peer Name Resolution Protocol) are the services having issues.
These are set on manual on my system, so I suspect that the problem isn't serious. I would wonder about them if you start having internet connection issues.

p2psvc (Peer Networking Grouping)
Enables multi-party communication using Peer-to-Peer Grouping. If disabled, some applications, such as HomeGroup, may not function.

KSecPkg is listed as being disabled. Please check in Device Manager for this device. If you don't find it, please let us know as this may be significant.

Interestingly, you have numerous BSOD's (52) listed in the MSINFO32 report that blame ksecdd.sys. I would suspect that this has to do with the KSecPkgdevice that's disabled - and would suggest enabling that device ASAP.

As this is all relate to security, I'd also suggest that you scan your system for malware with an independent scan from one of these sites: Malware

There's also 2 STOP 0x117 BSOD errors listed - one from Sep and one from Oct. If they continue I'd suggest having a look at this link (STOP 0x116 and 0x117 are very similar): http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html

I'd also wonder about your Comodo program. Please try this:
- temporarily uninstall Comodo
- use this free removal tool to ensure all remnants are gone (requires registration): Login
- monitor for further BSOD's

I'll post the results of the BSOD analysis when all 32 are done being analyzed.....

It looks like this is a driver. Attached to this post are the 6 instances of KSecPkg in my registry.
This is an experiment - I have never tried this before!!! Proceed at your own risk!!!

Please:
- make a system restore point
- make sure that you have a bootable recovery disk available (so you can run System Restore from it if this hoses your system).
- download the attachment and scan it for viruses (do this with anything and everything that you download).
- then merge the 6 instances into your registry and see if that helps.
- then check to see if that enabled the device/driver

If it hoses your system, boot the recovery disk to the point where it asks if you want to use System Restore. Then select the restore point that you just made and let it restore the system. That will get rid of the changes that my registry edits made.

Well now, there's a thing. Just checked KSecPkg and it says 'this device is working properly'!

Only thing I've done is run cc cleaner and all that picked up was residue of Comodo. Do I bite the bullet and attempt run Windows updates?
