I bought all the components for a new desktop, assembled the computer myself, and installed windows 7 64bit home premium this past fall 2010. I have had trouble with Blue Screens Of Death (BSODs) ever since. I finally found out what was wrong with my computer thanks to a link in one of the threads on this forum. The thread was http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/53379-bsod-cold-boot.html. The link in the thread was Memory Diagnostics. The problem I had was simple: I had bad RAM (memory).
I want to post this message to alert people to the possibility that RAM can seem to be fine when your system is warm (has already been running for a while). The RAM will pass the memtest86+ tests Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool with flying colors, only to produce a BSOD at start up the next morning after the computer has been turned off all night.
No offence taken if this thread is removed. I just thought it might be helpful to share my experience with this problem, and inform the community that there is one more case of this problem. Among the solutions I attempted before finding the actual culprit were the following: Using the XMP settings in BIOS with or without overclocking beyond the standard 1066Mhz, setting the memory timings by hand in the BIOS, setting the memory voltage to 1.65v in the BIOS (to match memory specifications), changing the Load-Line calibration in BIOS, re-installing windows on the hard drive and then on the SSD.
After reading the website about how to test your RAM Memory Diagnostics, I ran memtest86+ for a full 24 hours without one error turning up, but this was after a warm boot. Then after leaving the computer to cool down for the night, upon booting into memtest86+ I immediately got several thousand errors. I reproduced this several times (getting errors after a cold boot), and then borrowed my nephews' RAM to make sure that my motherboard was not the problem. His RAM worked flawlessly following warm and cold boots.
I have returned the RAM to Corsair and now await their solution.

CPU: Intel i7 950
RAM: Corsair DDR3 Memory Kit CMX6GX3M3A2000C9 (3 X 2GB at 2000Mhz)
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Hard Drive: Western Digital WD Caviar Black 1 TB SATA 6 GB/S 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache
SSD: Crucial RealSSD C300 CTFDDAC064MAG-1G1 2.5" 64GB SATA III
Power Supply: Be quiet! Dark Power PRO BQT P8-PRO-900W
