BSOD during heavy GPU use but CPU is overclocked

I recently built a computer, and it was doing okay for a few days. It just started crashing a lot while playing video games (screen freezes and it makes a loud noise - particularly GW2, which I'm told is more CPU heavy). It also blue screens sometimes. After exiting out of a GPU benchmark program (trying to get it to crash to see if i could figure out if it was the CPU or GPU), it crashed and blue screened while surfing the web a few minutes after I quit the GPU benchmarking program. I overclocked my 4790K to a ratio of 48 (base of 40), but I did not try to overclock my GPU (EVGA GTX 980). I also had an incident where the screen went black for a second and I got a message saying the Nvidia kernel crashed and recovered. I just scaled the overclocking down from 48 to 44, but I don't know why my graphics card seems to be having problems. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Firstly, set your CPU to defaults and see if the BSODs continue.
