I have a strange problem with my new desktop. I have installed windows 7 ultimate x64. I downloaded and installed common small utilities like gom player, winamp, avg etc. After 2-3 days of normal use the problem showed up. At every fisrt PC start of the day i have a different BSOD. I press the power button to restart the pc, i choose "start windows normally" (as i have disabled system restore) and everything goes back to normal. Windows start without a problem. The problem doesn't appear if i make a restart or shut down/start my pc during the same day.... It appears again at first start of the next day. I uninstalled AVG installed avira uninstalled avira again but the problem is the same. I also downloaded and installed all the latest drivers through Driver Genius Utility. I have attached the dump files etc as i have read in the forum's instructions. Anyone has any idea what to do???

Hi,

I see no probable cause, so chances are this is a hardware problem.

Turn on the Driver Verifier: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/101379-driver-verifier-enable-disable.html

Run these hardware tests:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/100352-cpu-stress-test-prime95.html (run the Blend test as well as the Small FFT test)

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Thanks a lot for your answer Reventon. I am running the CPU Test right now. This test must run for 12 hours (as it is mentioned in the instructions) or is it ok to leave it run for less?

I also would like to mention that today was the only day that i didn't get a BSOD at start-up. The problem today was that the Desktop Window Manager crashed. As usual I restarted my machine and everything was normal again.

12 hours is preferable, however make sure to keep an eye on your temps to be sure the system doesn't overheat.

Hello again.

I turned on the Driver Verifier. I ran the CPU tests (both small FFT and Blend) and the CPU passed everything.

I left memtest86+ running for 7 passes and the result was zero errors.

I checked the Video Card with Furmark and I did not notice any artifacts or errors. Furmark ran for about 6 minutes and i closed it because the temperature was increasing (when I stopped the test the temperature was about 80 C).

Finally I disabled the Driver Verifier when I finished the tests.

I would also like to mention that i did not get any BSOD by the time I started the tests. What should I do next?

Leave the Driver Verifier turned on for the next week.

Run the Prime95 tests when ever you have a chance to (ie; if you are going away from your PC for an hour or so).

I enabled the Driver Verifier again and restarted my machine as needed.

The windows loaded after the restart, i saw my desktop for a second or something and then BSOD again!!!!

My machine restarted automatically and i had two more BSOD at the same point exactly. I saw the file gdrv.sys in the BSOD. I am in Safe Mode right now.

I have attached the new dump files.

Ok I completely uninstalled the Easy Tune 6 software using Revo (in Safe Mode) and Windows started normally.

I installed Easy Tune 6 just before i started running the first Prime95 test, because i wanted to keep an eye on CPU's and system's temperature.

I can't remember if I installed it with the first Motherboard's drivers installation and then uninstalled it with windows uninstaller (because i didn't need it). If i did so, is there a chance that this was the reason for all these BSOD?

Thanks again for your support

I turned my computer on today and Windows loaded normally.

I opened firefox and it crashed immediately. I tried to open firefox again and I got BSOD again.

The name of the file that caused it this time is "tcpip.sys" (I guess it's the LAN Driver). After restart everything was normal as usual (no safe mode like the gdrv.sys BSOD).

I have attached the new dump files.

Never use this utilities, the may damage the OS

The responsible files this time were: something like that "* .sys" and "usbport.sys".
This usually caused by an USB device, remove any unnecessary device

gdrv.sys is still being blamed, boot in safe mode and go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers, locate gdrv.sys and rename it to gdrv.sys.old
