Hi

I'm had BSOD errors that I think are somehow related to a virus.
Never had any troubles with my laptop before, but the problems started when downloading a GOT torrent through Vuze.
It worked fine but the next time i tried to boot up it was hanging on the windows logo.
Using the various standard system recovery options did not help, so i ran chkdsk from a Windows 7 copy on a USB stick.
This managed to get windows started and instantly Avira said that it had quarantined a game of thrones virus file, which was basically the name of the torrent but a .exe.
After removing the file my laptop seemed to be working ok for a couple of days, so i updated everything and also removed Advanced System Care after reading some bad things about it.
FRom this point i started getting BSODs. The error message was bsod driver_irql_not_less_or_equal windows 7
Tried running chkdsk again from startup but was even getting the same BSOD before it could finish.
Managed finally to get chkdsk to run and it found various bad files/sectors/indexes which it deleted.
Since then have got a different BSOD where it has simply said that it has saved the files in a minidump.
I'm not sure if the virus is on my system still or if removing advanced system care is the problem, but i haven't had a BSOD for a few days.

Any help is very much appreciated - I've ran DM Log and attached the files.

Thanks Arc.

I reinstalled the OS using Acer erecovery management.

That went fine and system was running well. I had installed avira antivirus and a couple of other programmes, put documents and music back onto it and it was fine. Then after installing a second batch of windows updates including Windows Live Essentials, I encountered severe performance issues and BSODs.

So I reinstalled again, this time strictly following the clean reinstall guide. After installing Panda antivirus it was working fine, then again after trying to install all windows updates including Live Essentials I encountered a severly slow system and BSOD.

I have just reinstalled the OS again and put on avira antivirus and nothing else and it's running fine, but not installed windows updates yet. It installed realtek USB drive unprompted but other than that I haven't installed or changed anything.

Should I now run the DM log programme again? Reluctant to install windows updates again as that is where it seems to go wrong, but know that these are needed for security etc.

Many thanks for your help.

Yes, do it. It would be better to see the crash dumps.

BTW, if you have reinstalled using the installation disc rather than the recovery environment, and opted for MSE and MBAM for security, it might have been better IMHO.

Unfortunately there is no crash dump in the new zip.

Follow it: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/174459-dump-files-configure-windows-create-bsod.html
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup program before you upload another zip.
