Hi I've been getting a BSOD for about a month now and have tried running all the diagnostic tools and they come up with nothing, I even went as far as buying a new hard drive yesterday and doing a fresh install of windows and i have just done all the updates and downloaded my motherboard and graphics card drivers. I have also installed steam and arma 2, otherwise the computer is factory defaults and have gotten a blue screen multiple times in the past two days. Here's my dump files any info would be great!

Note: I have noticed many times after I boot back up from a BSOD steam is doing an update.

Bugcheck 24 - NTFS_File_System
caused by ntfs.sys

Check the OS integrity by running SFC /scannow from elevated command prompt
to open the command prompt, click start > type "cmd" without quotes on the search bar > enter

As you said you already replaced your hard drive, this could be corrupted installation...or even the SCSI/IDE Drivers fault.

maybe the other guys can help you more thoroughly :)

Hello cipley, I ran the sfc/scannow and it came up with nothing, (Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations). Thanks for the suggestion!

I also was told by a friend not sure if it's accurate or not but he thought it could be my ram even though the memory diagnostic tool came up with nothing, he suggested trying to run the computer on each ram stick alone and thought if there was a problem with one it would not work. I did this and the computer booted up normal on each ram stick.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for things to try I would appreciate it.

If you have an SSD update the firmware on it . If you have a mechanical hard drive ( spinning heads ) update the SATA driver .

Here is the HDD, a 2 TB Seagate Barracuda (64 MB cache).
Desktop HDD: 4TB Internal SATA Drive | Seagate

As it is nvidia chipset, storage driver is the part of chipset driver. The storage driver version is:
Code:
  Timestamp: [COLOR=Red]Fri Apr 09 14:52:41 2010[/COLOR] (4BBEF1E1)
And this is available in the motherboard's site ....
GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-M68MT-S2 (rev. 3.1)

No storage driver update is feasible.

Then what?

Suggestions should be complete, and is to be supported by the updated data. No scope of imagination is there in troubleshooting.

according to here, the main suspect would be the storage device...

Can you check the event viewer?
Start > Run or press Windows + R on your keyboard
type eventvwr then OK
then check on Windows Log. see if there is any error that related to NTFS/File System error

also, doing chkdsk /f /r on command prompt worth a shot.
it might be necessary to schedule the scan right before windows login. You'll be prompted to do so

Cheers

I have tried everything suggested with no luck with the exception of this driver as I'm unsure of how to install it.

You should not install that driver .... actually that one is the driver you already have installed. I pointed it out as there was a suggestion to update storage driver whereas the update is not feasible.

But, storport.sys is still in the list of unloaded modules. Which should be taken care. Can you update the BIOS? If not, let us know, we will ask for our hardware experts to guide you in it.

Your present BIOS is:
Code:
BiosVersion = FB
BiosReleaseDate = 08/26/2011
I'd suggest you to install it BIOS version FC, dated 2012/06/05, from GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-M68MT-S2 (rev. 3.1)

20130512124122.jpg

When done, disable memory caching of the BIOS (All the BIOS setups are different, but the logic is the same).

Finally, the latest dump indicates to the display driver, which is the latest version. Before altering the driver, I would suggest you a couple of tests.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.
Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark

Another BSOD indicates to bugcheck 0x1. May I ask you which antivirus/firewall do you use?

Let us know the results.

I have updated the bios to the newest version but was unable to locate memory caching in the bios.

I have also run memtest and it came up with like 1000 errors, I am currently trying to pin point which ram stick has the errors. Question - Could my operating system be corrupted from installing it with bad ram? Would the best option be to buy new ram and do a fresh install and see if the problem is fixed?

I have also run memtest and it came up with like 1000 errors, I am currently trying to pin point which ram stick has the errors.

Go to part 3 of How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Say you have two RAM sticks and two DIMM slots. You obtained errors at the test with all RAM sticks installed. Now, remove all the sticks but one. Test it in all the available slots, one by one. Continue the same procedure for all the available sticks.
How to make the inference that is it a RAM issue or it is a motherboard issue? Suppose you have got the result like that:
test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error | Error
RAM2|Good|Good
It is a RAM, a bad RAM.

But if you have got a result like that:
test|Slot1|Slot2
RAM1| Error |Good
RAM2| Error |Good
It is a motherboard issue. The particular slot is bad.

Question - Could my operating system be corrupted from installing it with bad ram? Would the best option be to buy new ram and do a fresh install and see if the problem is fixed?
Probably not.

Still, if you like, you may go for a clean reinstall. But if the RAM is really corrupted, it would not be of any help.

Plan to replace the RAM< after completing the third part to determine which is bad actually.
