BSOD interrupts while trying to log into safe mode.

My toshiba windows 7 laptop had a BSOD so i was told to log into safe mode to recover. But when i try to log into safe mode, the BSOD thing interrupts and goes back to restart. I tried all the options in the Advance boot options except the "Safe Mode With Command Prompt" and "Disable Driver Signature Enforcement" Option, and it still has The BSOD thing interrupting. Does this mean my laptop has crashed? Can someone pls help me. I am really depressed about this. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello and welcome Myklimo mate some system specs would be good please even the laptop model number would be helpful.

Now does the machine feel or smell hot while running? Does it make any unusual noises when powering up or running? How old is the machine?

If you can get the command prompt for any length of time can you please run these

SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker
Disk Check < if necessary include the /f and /r in the command line as per Option2

Thank u for ur reply. I have decided to just change my operating system but i want to back some of my files. But i cant do that because i cant log into any of the safe modes. I was wondering if there could be another way i could get into my files and back them up before changing the OS? Any codes that can log into safe mode without the normal log in? U know, any other way to see my files and back them up cos i cant loose them. The BSOD keeps interrupting every Advanced Power Boot Option. Thanks for the help.

Make a bootable Ubuntu disk Download Ubuntu Desktop | Download | Ubuntu
Set the BIOS to boot from the optical when the machine boots it will show you a screen with TRY or INSTALL > select TRY not INSTALL
When it is finished - it takes very little time you will get a screen like in the pic .
Open the drive you want > User and dig down until you get to the data / settings you may be able to copy / paste the material you want to an external source or other installed drive doing this.
I am not sure if it will but I have recovered tons of data etc using this method both on "dead" or just plain drives that you cannot get data from using Windows.

There is another Linux based one here Emergency Kit - save your files from a dead OS I prefer my Ubuntu fix only because it is a little easier to set up.

Ok mate let me know if you want any help with the Ubuntu fix - it is really simple you just do what you would do with Windows click on the drive open it up and go to Users > then docs and pics (whatever data you need ) > copy and paste to the external drive or USB stick.

Thank u so much. I wanted to run a disk check and see if it will fix the errors using the recovery disk and using the command prompt. Its is checking alright. 5 out of 5 stages completed and its now correcting errors in the Volume Bitmap. My only question is, how will i know if the disk check is complete? Will it give me a notification? How will i know pls? Thanks for the help

Hi, well the chkdsk was done with all five stages completed but it kept saying correcting errors on bitmap line after line after line like 12 times. It was there for almost 6hrs so i closed the command prompt window and shut it down. When i booted again without the recovery disc, the BSOD doesnt interupt anymore but its stuck at the "starting windows" screen and wont go any further. I dont know what to do anymore. Has it crashed? I try to use safe mode and its stuck at loading drivers system things. Shld i run the chkdsk again? Pls help. Thanks for the help

Never close chkdsk command prompt, it could cause serious problems for Windows to be unable to boot.

Run chkdsk again, don't interrupt it and let it finish. FYI it could take a long time (days) to finish, but under no circumstances interrupt it.


If you do interrupt chkdsk, you make things more difficult for us and yourself to resolve this problem. The next suggestion would then possibly be to reinstall Windows.
