Crash dumps using WhoCrashed.

I have a semi fix on that issue via using Nvidia Inspector.

I lowered my Shader Clock from 1240Mhz to 875Mhz.
It helps my computer run for 2-3 days while playing games but then it gets BOSD (Black screen and reset) every 2-3 days.

Also have added these under Graphics Drivers in regedit.

I am looking for a permanent fix. (I want to know if its time to buy a new GPU eventually.)
I have the laptop for 2 years. I rarely shut it down or restart it even when I am sleeping.(should I start shutting it down every now and then?)

Hi Tfz,

Welcome to the 7forums.

As this is a 0x116(VIDEO_TDR_ERROR) it is specific to the graphics.
Please uninstall everything of Nvidia using Display Driver Uninstaller and install new drivers from your manufacturer.

The GPU is not the same the laptop had at first.

It is an upgrade , the laptop had an old ATI.
So I cant install drivers from the manufacturer site. (Dell)

Your manufacturer is Alienware, from what is Dell the manufacturer?

The Manufacturer is Alienware , then a computer tech changed the GPU and sold it to me it was shipped to me through Ebay since Alienware hardly comes to Europe especially Greece.

I was fine playing games for 1 and a half year straight.
Then BSOD started.
I found the solution using Nvidia Inspector but its not a permanent solution.

I dont think I have drivers istalled using Driver Identifier.
I have the latest Nvidia driver installed. (I changed the txts. inside thought because I had the common issue when the Nvidia Installer cant identify the card so thats how I installed them.)

-Changing drivers wont solve the issue I ve tried multiple times so dont suggest that please-

Are the latest drivers first removed with DDU and then reinstalled?

Yes I have like formatted the Laptop 3 times, twice done by Computer Tech here in Greece, I have went to 4 techinicians here and none could solve the problem with the BSOD, most told me to buy a new GPU though. It is really complicated. I might need a programmer to write like a code to prevent that. My GPU must be refurbished the tech though saw no issues when he opened the laptop.

I ve tried that already,using 3D Mark and my GPU Temps never reach over 75.
The Tech added a high quality thermal paste everywhere , and it was his first thought of stressing my computer with Marks to see if it closes from heat.

I have 2 coolers , the laptop's a beast about cooling.

(Thermal paste added 3-4 months ago and Laptop cleaned thoroughly)

Dont remember the exact versions , old and new ones. bottom line same issue. I came here for the ultimate solution.

Is the GPU properly checked for compatibility?
Compatibility does NOT mean the problem has to occur immediately.

I have zero idea about that seriously, but I've seen a video where they installed on the same model Alienware m18xR1 Nvidia Geforce 780m SLI , so if thats the best I suppose the system do supports my GPU since its the GTX 675m.

The difference is the GPU, if the 780m SLI supports the same model doesn't mean the 675m supports it too.

I really dont know then. Is there any way to know? should I change my GPU? If they are compatible still what is the solution to the issue... so many questions.

The reason for upgrading your GPU was? Gaming?

A way to know is checking Nvidia for it.
What did the technician say about compatibility?

I do not know the reason for the upgrade, it was upgraded from the person who sold me the Laptop. (maybe it was to provide a nice gaming experience which does actually although it has its toll -> the BSODs.)

The tech said there is no way to know if they are is compability. -> LOL

A way to know is checking Nvidia for it. -> How? can you provide a link to see for myself.

I am really curious why that guy upgraded the GPU, normally you cannot upgrade a GPU and have a stable laptop.

Just came up in my mind.
