BSOD on a 2 day old install!

Install these JMicron card reader drivers: ftp://driver.jmicron.com.tw/jmb38x/X...00.50_WHQL.zip

Your Microsoft keyboard drivers are old too; uninstall the software, in Programs and Features, and then go to Device Mangager > Keyboards, and uninstall the drivers for the keyboard. Reboot, and just use the generic drivers Windows automatically installs.

What were the results of the Memory Test? You did use Memtest86, not the Windows memory diagnostic, right?

doing that did nothing so i followed instructions to enable verifier. on boot i had to run startup repair and opted out on system restore. it sat for a long time and finally said it couldnt repair. so i rebooted and allowed system restore. this time it worked. I am unsure of the course of action to take now

Yet again startup restore that requires a system restore to work properly.

All tests have been passed and have had no issues running, I even stepped some of them up and had no issues at all with temp or anything. My GPU loves staying cold it seems :P

Well I must confess I lost track of the original problem, and forgot when these BSODs occur.

We have tried just about everything from the software end, now I believe this is most likely a firmware or battery problem.

I know you didn't want to have to return it, but I suggest that you do just that. I suspect either the battery or motherboard is bad, most likely the battery.

Just as a refresher my problem is BSODS only occur when the laptop is not plugged into the ac.
Firmware is BIOS correct? I would love to update my bios, but I have no clue how to go about finding the newest version so that this would be fixed, I used the hp one but that was dirt old. like 2008 or something.

Firmware is BIOS on the device itself, as opposed to software, like drivers.

Drivers are a type of BIOS, just to clarify. We don't hear this very often though; BIOS is usually just used for the system BIOS; the BIOS chip on the motherboard.

Your BIOS is dated 10/5/2010. I'm not sure whether that means May 10, 2010, or October 5, 2010.

What is the exact model of your computer? There are many Pavillion DV7s. Here's the page: Product search results

Updating your BIOS may help, and in any case, it's worth a shot.
