So I just reformatted and installed my windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit again. I had performed this just a week ago, as i installed a new hd, and it was a success. Then on an automatic update windows, the screen got stuck on "failure configuring windows updates. reverting changes." and it just got stuck. I waited about two hours to no avail. I could not get back into windows, and I tried booting into all kinds of repair modes but nothing worked. I decided why not reformat and reinstall windows, wont take very long, and I dont have many programs to reinstall. So I do that, windows installs fine, then I go to install my video card driver, from the asus website, and when i reboot i get the blue screen of death. Reboot a few more times and same thing, cannot get back into windows. I try repair mode but it doesn't work. I reinstall windows again. When it starts up I try to reboot, and windows loads up fine. Install the video driver again and back to the BSOD. Note that this is the same video driver I used a week ago and it worked fine.

So Im pretty clueless as to whats going on here. Also exasperated, I need this for school, immediately, and will have to go and buy a new one tomorrow morning if I can't get this fixed.

I wonder if I just install the 32 bit version it will work better?

Edit: I can't run the DM log collector as I can't get back into windows now.

Ok, problem solved. Turns out I installed windows via UEFI, and for whatever reason that was the problem. Interestingly it was only this video driver that was causing prblems. When I booted in safe mode and uninstalled it, everything worked fine. Re-downloaded the driver from Asus, and even tried directly from Intel, but the same problem. Did the clean install with non-UEFI, and now I'm back up and running.
