OK, so my laptop sometimes will, and sometimes wont, bluescreen when the lid is shut, the BSOD gave me the error DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE (BSOD Dump Converted by BlueScreenView Included) which is apparently caused by the NT kernel, how, I have no idea. I also had one other driver act up, but I haven't found what it controls yet.

I also have another issue, which I am unsure if it is related to this blue screen, when I do certain things (Open Skype, Make a steam voice call, etc; ) My sound will crash, I can't hear anything, or use my microphone, and this is the only computer it has ever happened to me on before.

Whether they are or are not related, please help me fix these issues, they are quite the nuisances when I'm trying to use my laptop.

Hi and welcome to Seven Forums. Please note, I'm new at BSOD debugging but am being watched by writhziden so don't worry!

The BSOD dumps you gave me do not give a definitive cause for your BSOD's. They all point at ntkrnlmp.exe which is a system file and very unlikely to cause a BSOD.

As a result I recommend you check your hardware for issues. Please run Memtest86+ to check your RAM. Let it run for 6-8 passes overnight as described in the tutorial. Pay particular attention to parts 2 and 3.

Also check your HDD for errors using Seatools. Download and create a bootable version of the Seatools for DOS program as described here.

If all of those tests come back OK, I'll see what else I can uncover.

Thanks, and also, I have some new data to share. My laptop BSOD'd last night. This time, BlueScreenView shows that the files ntoskrnl.exe, and hal.dll, which as you said already, are system files and are extremely unlikely to cause a bsod. One other file showed, but at this point, I believe that I is hardware, Ill begin using memtest and seatools A.S.A.P

Yup, hardware is the most likely cause. Report back the seatools and the memtest results once they are complete.

Oh, in the future, could you re-upload the dump files whenever you get more BSOD's. Bluescreenview can give false readings. I need to look at them in detail using a program called WinDbg. Thanks.
