BSOD! - Please help :)

Hello everyone!,

Recently I've been having a some trouble with my PC keep getting Blue screen. I have no idea why its doing it. I've got all the files which are requested to help try find my problem.

the zip contains the stuff from the Collection app and Perfmon /report.

If you need anything else please just ask

About 2 years

- What is the age of OS installation (have you re-installed the OS?)
I installed windows 7 on xmas eve this year.

By the way I used to get Bluescreen when I used Vista aswell.

Hi, akkmann09; and welcome to the forum. I looked at your three most recent dumps. All are bugcheck 116, VIDEO_SCHEDULER_INTERNAL_ERROR, and all three blame dxgmms1.sys, the Windows system Direct X driver which is most probably not the real cause. The usual causes are driver, overheating, bad video card, ?BIOS, ?Power to card. Out of date drivers can and do cause conflicts, memory corruption. Some interfere with the video subsystem. I find the following outdated drivers on your system. Update these drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software they are associated with. One driver is quite obsolete.

nvm62x64.sys Fri Oct 17 17:01:06 2008 - nVidia Ethernet Networking Driver (nForce chipset driver). http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx.

nvstor.sys Wed May 20 02:45:37 2009 - nVidia Ethernet Networking Driver (nForce chipset driver). http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx

UltraMonUtility.sys Thu Nov 13 20:10:30 2008 - UltraMon multi-monitor. http://www.realtimesoft.com/ultramon/support.asp. Update this driver, or update the utility, or uninstall the utility.

Take care of these drivers and see it it helps your system. then start troubleshooting your video subsystem following the link I posted above. Post back and let us know how your system is doing. If you get another BSOD, upload it.

So whats the changes that my card is defective? I really don't want to dish out money to get a new one I already have to buy a new screen for my netbook :'( *sobs*

I read some of that thread and notably it says that a defective card would be if it happenned constantly but if it happened when in a 3d application or such then its most likely overheating, software etc.

It happens most when
- watching videos on youtube
- Playing games (pretty much only on Battlefield Bad company 2)
- and Autodesk Mudbox (3d modelling application)

Well the first thing you can try, and the least drastic is simply reinstalling the latest driver package for the card.

though not likely you can also try repairing the directx with a fresh install of the latest redist.

At 2 years old it's also possible a physical build up of dust and particulate on the card fan is causing a heat problem, canned air could clear that up for you.

Sadly it's likely the above user is correct and the card is on it's way out.

depending on the conditions it's been in, dust build up could still be a problem. Especially if you have pets, pet hair gets in the most ridiculous of places. I'm just trying to offer you some alternatives to immediately replacing the card though.

Don't forget about those drivers; they can be causing the problem. I recommend that you uninstall Ultramon; it is obsolete and may be a part of the problem. Take care of those drivers and then you can worry about the video card.
