got another screen turn off while playing sims 3, this time when i tried to restart it it kept beeping and wouldn't restart. it beeped 5 times. What does this mean?
Edit: i've been googling, and this problems seems to happen to a lot of people. I'm not sure why it happens though. or how to fix it.

Observe it carefully ... is it happening with the particular game only for sure?

okay, i did some testing and it also happens with saints row the third, and dead island, also for sims 3 it doesn't seem to matter whether i have the graphics settings on high or not it still crashes with not a lot of time difference, if any. Fallout 3 doesn't crash at all, even after continous hours of play, then again fallout 3 graphics aren't much compared to saints row and sims graphics. But at least i don't get bsod anymore.
Edit: is it too late to say that my pc is custom built by me and has an oc gpu? I didn't oc the gpu myself though, i bought it oced, and also my mobos doesn't support oc, but i think only for the cpu, not the gpu.

Is it alright if i run furmark without ticking the log gpu data checkbox? Because everytime i tick it, it makes furmark go not responding.
Edit: also if furmark destroys my gpu, does that mean my warranty is void?

Well, good point. As it is under warranty, better you first contract the vendor. It is safe, and worth the money you paid to buy the card. :)

i really don't get why this is happening to only some games and not others, such as mass effect 2, i can play that for hours and nothing will happen, but i play modern warfare 2 for like 10 minutes and my whole computer crashes. I'm still trying to contact gigabyte, though it might take a while longer still. Should i just run the stress test anyway?

Very good information, Nice GPU :)

Enter into the priority settings of the games those are problematic. Reduce the priority, textures etc to low or medium .... see if it can minimize this issue.

okay, so i reduced the graphics settings on modern warfare 2 and my PC still crashed, but it lasted longer than before. Also this is the first time this happened, but windows said it was a blue screen, even though i didn't see a blue screen. I'll attach my dump files just in case. Hopefully, we're getting close to the solution to the problem
Edit: also sometimes my ati driver just stops working, it says it in a little bubble on my task bar.

As it is showing a stop 0x117 now, it is a graphics related error, and for it, it is to follow http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-lo...op-0x116-video_tdr_error-troubleshooting.html

Something like this?

If after installing the latest driver it occurs still, plan to RMA / replace the GPU. In more than 90% of cases, it is hardware error.

Is this stop 0x117 causing my pc to go black when playing games as well?
Edit: is there a way to make sure it's my gpu first?

Yes there is a way ... either you use the onboard graphics, or replace the graphics card with another one. If the situation is the same, it is not the GPU but anything else. But if the situation is better, it the the GPU.

In my best assumption, it is the GPU that is causing the problem in your case.

The error that you confirmed is too random to be caught by a furmark test. So I am not sure that it will be caught by the furmark test.
